New thing I will try to keep up on every Saturday.  Who in our lovely country must be commended on their valiant fight for freedom and unmatched bravery.  Whose got some REAL red, white, and blue balls?

For my inaugural FFOTW (has this been done before?  Maybe?  No matter.) I give you, Atlas, OKLAHOMA ATHEIST LADY!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LP3Zs_V_BQ

In front of the whole CNN audience, in OKLAHOMA, no less!  Every time we have these tragedies, every person has to get asked, "Oh, wow, what a miracle, eh?", or "You must be really thanking God right now!"  Not everyone must think this way!  Personally, for those who survived being in the rubble, I thank

1. Tornado safety educators.
2. Rescue workers doing their job
3. The people who should be thanking themselves for acting instead of panicking!

Oklahoma Atheist Lady... YOU GO GIRL!  That little dude should be proud of his mom.

Cheers!

Expressions like "Thank God" and "It's a miracle!" are meaningless platitudes anyway, much like saying "Bless You" after somebody sneezes.

Indeed. At least, I have no problem using them regularly despite being agnostic.

I know somebody who takes fairly serious offense at being told 'bless you' when he sneezes because he takes the originally religious context seriously for some reason. We all just kind of smile and nod and indulge it as an annoying and ridiculous but harmless quirk of his.

I once had a professor that would only use "Gesundheit" to make a point not to say "God".  That was far more irritating than a simple colloquium.
