Here's hoping he wins; Haley isn't a very good governor, and is a Tea Partier to boot.

I'll vote for him, but I don't see any chance of him winning.  For better or worse Haley has governed much as expected.  She had a few stumbles in her first year in office, which was only to be expected.  Unless she gets embroiled in a scandal or does something to rile the base, she's going to win.  Even after fifteen years, memories of what happened to Beasley are still too fresh for her to think of doing something to anger the base before she is reelected, not that I think there is anything she wants to do along those lines.

He can try, but that won't stop the state GOP from comparing him to DC democrats.

It's the only way. Reminds me of North Dakota Senate race, with Heidi playing 100% local and winning, despite huge Romney's win.

Of course ND is relatively less Republican than SC and Haley is not Rick "Fail" Berg.

It's hard, but always possible.

This race could be close, but Haley will still probably win.  In 2010, Haley severely underperformed for some reason, and it could happen again.  However, South Carolina is such an inelastic state, it tends to be difficult for Democrats to cross the finish line.
