I haven't tried it either.  So I'm guessing no.

No. Google Docs is great for collaboration and basic functionality, but it has functional limitations.

I've been using Open Office myself since I don't need a big honking program enough to want to pay for one.  I'm not keen on storing my docs on the cloud tho.

No; you can't do nearly as many things in Google Docs as you can in Office.

Docs is fine for really basic stuff like a budget or short essay, but I wouldn't do a thesis in it.

I like to customize my software so mix-and-match is my style. I prefer Adobe FrameMaker from the Technical Communication Suite for documents and Corel Quattro Pro from Perfect Office for spreadsheets.

Google Docs is really only good for collaborating.  I prefer Word for everything else.

No. I've only used google docs for group things because we can all access it. I definitely wouldn't use it for anything important.

I find it gets the job done.  I also like that it autosaves.

Office is better but Docs is probably the best free one because it's so simple.

Some things you can't do in Google Docs:

{=SUM(IF($A$2:$A$202=H2,IF($B$2:$B$202>TODAY()-7,$F$2:$F$202,0),0))}

I only use Google Docs to store already saved Office documents that I need to view and edit when I'm away from my own computer.

People are always sending me stuff that is apparently somehow 'in' Google documents, but I have no idea how to use it - can't even open it as it requires a password or something.  So, those documents go unreplied..

Google Docs is fine if you need to do basic word processing.  If you need the bells and whistles, Microsoft Word tops it, but a lot of people think they need the bells and whistles and don't.

I often need the bells and whistles which is why I find MS Word comes up short, too.

LibreOffice and OpenOffice already make it obsolete.
