The girl I have been seeing texted me this morning to tell me she was coming back to town this weekend and wasn't going to make any plans with anyone else so I could "do whatever you want to do with me all weekend. Your choice."

Congrats, Duke!  I've always done okay with girls, but I've never gotten a text like that in my life, and I will now, in the pub I'm in, order another beer.  Have fun!

EDIT:  I did however get an email this evening from a married Chinese girl telling me that I am "cute," so, while you go ahead and get yourself into some fun trouble, Dukey, I have to stay out of trouble.

I refereed a warm up tournament for the Canada Games this weekend. I saw a 7 foot dude at the tournament which was neat.

I take it that everything in your neighborhood is alright? Or do you not know what you are going back to?

We've been told that there will definitely be a lot of noticeable changes in the scenery.  That could potentially cause problems further down the road; the deforestation can increase the threat from flash flooding, and then avalanches in the winter.  But the only structures lost to the fire (six in total) were all further down the mountain.  No injuries or loss of life, thankfully.

Well I went to my first day at my new job yesterday. Six hour work day in a factory warehouse. A friend and I--his job is in the management portion of the company, I guess--have to prepare these factory rollers. They've had them for twenty years and have continually modified them for whatever purposes. Now, they need to piece them together again, so what we're doing is grinding down all the welding and all that on the edges so they can fit together, and drilling holes so they can be bolted together. Getting paid 12 dollars an hour--I've been told the unions wouldn't tolerate us getting paid $15 an hour.

Thanks, Grumps!    Yeah, I need to get out of my present situation before the ship sinks.  But the jobs I'm looking at are pretty appealing, both in terms of opportunities and location, so I'll buy the whole forum a few rounds if one in particular pans out.
