Today I all but confirmed my suspicion that I have thyroid disease, specifically hypothyroidism. Trouble is, my insurance is completely useless because of the back-breaking deductible on it, so I'll end up having to pay a sum and a half for any official diagnosis.

How do you "confirm your suspicion" for this?  Are there symptoms?  My endocrinologist (I am diabetic) put my on thyroid medication years ago, but I have never had any symptoms of thyroid disease, if there are any.  I take levothyroxine, but I don't feel any different for taking it.

I'm having a filling and tooth removed tomorrow. The first is okay but I've never had a tooth pulled (though I had wisdom teeth removed under a general anesthetic) so feeling a bit bleaurgh. Still it's only going to cost me 35 pounds.

At 35 pounds I'd expect a guy named Leo with a pair of pliers yanking your tooth.......no novacane either.  Wink

Looking forward to kayaking later today. Everything should go over well if my mother and her awful fascism doesn't get in the way. It's quite sickening and incredibly frustrating.

I was unaware of the anti-kayaking aspect of fascist political ideology, but yes, it sounds frustrating.

As for my own updateee, well I'm again off in another not-too-far away (3 hour drive at my super-slow pace) town making $40 an hour playing the 'teacher'.  Should leave with $1,400 cash by the end of the week Wink

Hope I don't get fired from my regular job!

That sounded really interesting, and I was going to inquire of afleitch about the possibility of securing sloppy seconds, but then I read the context. Sad

I may have spoken a bit too soon - I only walked away with about $1,000, so it was only about $32/hour (the hours were short as well).  This does happen in Thailand - you'll be paid well, but you can never be sure if it will actually be as well as promised.  Everything is such a web of cheating and fakery (for example the paper work never matches the reality at all), that a few bucks one way or other is unpredictable and depends on many factors and many relationships.  (and one has little direct recourse).

I just made it known through the 'third party channel' one must use in Asia that I wasn't going to complain publicly, and wasn't upset, but would be able to participate in future for less than $240/day.

I get to go look up wills at the probate court tomorrow. I wonder if I can look up my granddad's will and see what he's leaving me?!

Are these wills you're looking up (sans grandad) soon to be deceased people?  If so, I'd advise them to do exactly as they're told by the mob lawyers you work for.

Wills are not filed with the court until a probate is opened. If one has been opened, sorry about your granddad.

I also do in the US.

Actually wisdom tooth surgery is going to suck. It sucks that I have less than two months of summer left before I move, and now I have to spend a goddamn week of that inside like a shut-in. **** my life.

In other news, my dad is still making bullsh**t excuses about why he's dragging his feet on the other form that he hasn't done anything yet (not even for the information he can do right now). I'm really unhappy and about to call him out again.

I had two hearings today, as part of my summer internship. The first went pretty well, while the second was adjourned because the other side was sick and couldn't show up. And then I charmed the old black ladies in the file room for a bit to eventually get some recordings of a past hearing so I could listen to that.

Also today, I did not torture any puppies by leaving them outside in the heat all the day instead of letting them inside.

And I got a small chocolate frosty from Wendy's. Twenty calories, max.

Even lay people know this El Toro. They set up the trusts, wills, etc...whack the people then settle the estates. Perfect mob arrangement.

Yes, that is the plot line right out of an Hawaii 5-0 show about 25 years ago. (The overlay was that the heir would sell his expectancy to the bad guys, who would then off the bequestor. It's a win win. The heir gets some dough now and avoids the risk of "disinheritment," and the bad guys make a nice quick profit.)  So you're right. Lay people watch television, and often assume it's reality.

What is this "el toro" bit about btw?

That was Grumps's name back when he was doing porn in the 80s. I'm surprised you haven't seen it, seems right up your alley.
