Don't need a majority for it to make a difference in the result. Even if most voters aren't voting on sexual orientation, there are plenty of people who vote Republican for other reasons that such a coalition would easily win.

Why wouldn't it have surfaced in 2008? Maybe Democrats thought it would matter then (with Obama not risking to strike), but wouldn't Republicans have caught on to any supposed "scandal"? I personally find it more unlikely that Hillary would come out and say she disagreed with Obama's killing of bin Laden. I don't really see what that gains her with either the public or the party, and it probably would annoy Obama enough that he'd actively work against her behind the scenes.

I could maybe see the bisexual thing, high risk, high reward. And I could definitely see the health scare as an attempt to seem intimate and humanizing.

I somewhat believe this, and with the tides changing in favor of LBGT rights, this is the perfect time to announce this. People in two hundred years will not remember Harvey Milk, Jason Collins, or Anderson Cooper as the first "major" coming-outs. But Hillary doing this will be remembered forever.
