I hope Ayotte is beaten in 2016. I was expecting her to come across as more of a centrist, like Brown.

Mrs. Me-Too's never been a centrist. She just follows along with McCain and Graham (usually following Graham when they disagree on something).

I remember CNN saying that some NH Republicans feared that her nomination put the seat at risk, so she definitely wasn't the most moderate candidate in the primary.

I'd have to say she was in the middle of the three major candidates on social issues. Bill Binnie was much more socially moderate (pro-choice, moderate on immigration, to name a few things). Ayotte, meanwhile, threw a hissy fit when gay marriage got passed and resigned.

And on the other end of the spectrum sits Ovide Lamontagne (who I'd see forming a bloc with Ron Johnson and represent us like we're in Texas).

I will be doing everything in my power to oust her in the summer of 2016. I've heard she's a very nice person, but her views are absolutely loathsome.

Why don't you run for her seat? Hahaha

No surprise. So it seems Brown's political career is finished.

Unless he runs for governor in MA, probably.  I don't know why he would go ahead with this.

Aren't they considered more moderate Republicans?   And why would she be unpopular anyway (aside from being a Republican)?

She's unpopular because she's legislating like a Senator from Mississippi despite representing New Hampshire.

Was Judd Gregg that much different from Ayotte?  He would probably still be considered a moderate today, but he seemed pretty conservative by New England standards.

New Hampshire is not a red state. She's representing us like we're Arizonans or South Carolinians. You can get away with being a Judd Gregg-esque moderate in Arizona. Someone with Ayotte's stance might not be conservative enough for South Carolina. But as the political climate goes in New Hampshire, Kelly Ayotte is too conservative.

Was Judd Gregg that much different from Ayotte?  He would probably still be considered a moderate today, but he seemed pretty conservative by New England standards.

Yeah, he was, but Gregg was already firmly established in NH politics for 14 years before retiring and was elected to the executive council, the House, and the governorship before his tour of duty in the Senate. He can get away with a no vote on background checks like he did in 1999. Ayotte was an attorney general for five years (an appointed position here) and is a first-termer. She can't get away with something like that.

Ayotte is down to a slightly negative 44/46 approval; that still better than I expected though.

She trails Hassan by an identical 46-44.

Ayotte has always had a conservative profile.  She never struck me as an Olympia Snowe type.  Obviously she is someone we should target for defeat.

It seems like the Senate GOP is trying to promote her as she has been the most high-profile of the Republican women senators.  If Hillary Clinton is the 2016 Democratic nominee, look for Ayotte to become one of her most prominent critics.

Kelly Ayotte will get on board for marriage equality if she cares to win re-election in 2016 New Hampshire.

Scott Brown is a pretty damn terrible politician. Warren was certainly beatable, the Governorship of Massachussets was winnable, and even the Senate was possible again, especially against the ageing and lethargic campaign of Ed Markey. Either that, or he wanted to make sure people stop coming up with his name as a winnable politician so he can make money in peace.

Scott Brown reminds me of this one-hit wonder from the early 1990s:
