In the midst of an economic Depression, the Democratic Party has split in two. The national organization is pledged to William Bryan of Nebraska, a fiery populist with the support of the Populist Party. The establishment of the party has split from it and nominated President Cleveland for a third term under the National Democratic banner. The Republicans, hoping to benefit from this split, have nominated House Speaker Thomas Reed, an avowed enemy of Cleveland.

Who will occupy 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on March 4, 1897?

You decide. You have one day to vote. Note that you can vote for Bryan on either the Democratic or Populist line. This will largely serve as a means to determine who his Vice Presidential electors will be pledged towards. Both a Democratic and a Populist vote for Bryan will continue to his full total of votes.

Before he heel-turned into a violent racist towards the end of his career, Tom Watson was an freedom fighter of the highest order. So, I vote for Bryan with my fellow Watson.

Without the presence of McKinley on the Republican ticket (sorry I couldn't make it to the 1896 RNC), it's a tossup for me between Cleveland and Reed.

With an amazing 71.4% of the vote, William Bryan becomes the youngest person ever to occupy the Oval Office. Map to follow.

Bryan carries every single state in the union as the Republicans utterly collapse and Cleveland fails to swing a single state in the midst of the ongoing depression.
