Horrible, and unexpected; seems like a very strange target and doesn't seem like the attack was particularly well-planned.

A friend of mine was in Boston today; her mother was running in the marathon. She finished before the attacks occurred and didn't witness them; they're all OK.

Gotta second what Keystone Phil was saying, as well, about the need felt on both sides to politicize this as quickly as possible. Though it does seem like it's more likely to be some right-wing militia (it being Tax Day and obviously intended to kill civilians) rather than some external enemies (nothing really strategic was attacked). Who knows; whoever was behind this is despicable.

I don't know whose idea it was saying "Ulster unionists" were behind this but I haven't seen it outside of this thread and that makes close to zero goddamn sense.
