Indeed, because you want them.  I believe the plan is to hand over the keys to them if sh**t were to ever hit the fan.

In 2010, the German Bundestag has voted in favour of withdrawing the U.S. nuclear weapons. It's also part of the current coalition agreement between CDU/CSU and FDP. Especially, the FDP and foreign minister Westerwelle are pushing for the removal.

Ok, you don't want them there, your leaders didn't want them there, but they were convinced otherwise in the last NATO meeting about it. 

I suppose you could leave NATO...
