interesting, I never considered him. One problem is he is from the U.P. and his district was the U.P. and northern lower Michigan. did he even represent a city with 50k people in it. I wonder how many people in Metro Detroit even know who he is. He would need a lot of support to win the primary, support he wouldn't have. I personally would support Stupak if he ran over anyone but Peters, but I think Peters will run for senate.

I doubt it.  Based on what I know, I don't think Synder's running for reelection.  Bill Schuette is the most likely GOP candidate at this point, I think.

Then this will probably be a lean dem race.  Schuette has little name recognition and only won in 2010 on Snyder's coat tails.

Stupak would probably be strongest statewide Dem contender short of Gary Peters. However, I don't see him winning the primary, especially if Mark Schauer runs.
