running Windows 7.  last night I got an alarming alert/warning that my C drive was reporting failure and that I should back up all the files I wanted in preparation for the doomsday.  I poked around the net and took the advice to download and run some programs that produce a report of how the hardware is working.  multiple programs reported that my "spin up time" was in critical condition.

so today I bought an external hard drive and backed up the files, and took a look at the diagnostic programs once again -- and the spin up time issue appears to be solved, no problem detected.  yesterday's critically low value of "1" is now an "89", compared to a "threshold" of "25."  I have little or no idea of what these numbers are supposed to or do mean.

is there reason for continuing concern?  the computer in question should be under manufacturers warranty for another five months, should I try to get them to replace the C drive?
