Yesterday I got:

Moving Mountains - Waves
Converge - All We Love We Leave Behind

on vinyl. Obvious choice.

They're circular, not square.

To the extent this is true, it's less because of the intrinsic superiority of the material (though it is clearly superior to cassettes), and more because vinyl was exempt from the "loudness wars" that CDs got caught up with, which compressed the expressive range of the material.

I have neither the bankroll nor the space to get into vinyl, though I do find it to be one of the few forms of conspicuous consumption out there today that is even theoretically appealing.

vinyl records are not square, they are round.  But only if they're cool.  If they become hot then they get warped and are no longer round.  I've left quite a few in my car.  Well, not in this millenium, but back when there used to be records I've left them in my car long enough to no longer be round.

Anyway, neutral.

I was delighted when someone finally invented the CD.

I mean square like for losers stuck in the 70s, playing video games, drinking Mountain Dew, and living in their mother's basement.

I have a huge collection of early Rock & Roll, R&B and Doo Wop songs from the 1950s on 78RPM Records as well as on LPs and 45s, so records collecting is at least cool in my opinion.

Well we know Oldies has an affinity for history, albeit inaccurate history.

It's not inaccurate history.  You just don't like it because it threatens your dearly-held beliefs that the GOP is racist.

I think that party's problems run deeper than the fact that they hate blacks...

Oldiesfreak is black and he's a Republican, so clearly they don't hate blacks.

Huh, I wasn't aware of this "fact".
