ATLANTA, February 6, 2013 – Likely Democratic Primary voters surveyed this weekend selected Congressman Sanford Bishop, former Secretary of Education Cathy Cox and former Attorney General Thurbert Baker as the favorite out of a field of seven potential Democratic candidates.
The survey included 1,411 responses from individuals who voted in at least two of the last four Democratic partisan Primary elections. The field excluded Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed who, prior to the poll, stated that he had not given the race any thought and has since withdrawn his name from consideration.
Lead pollster Fred Hicks said, “The Democratic field is slow to gel at this point, but there is a space for a strong candidate to emerge. This is the second in a series of three surveys we are conducting this quarter on the partisan Primary races.”
