It is conceivable, should Vander Plaats and King both run. Branstead's backing would be ideal.

Vander Plaats and King should both run, so Latham can win.

I can't see Vander Plaats running against King. He might run in King's congressional district though. (IIRC Vander Plaats lives in Des Moines, so he'd have to move.)

not terrible surprised, thats kind of what I would expect to happen, considering how conservative the Republican electorate is in Iowa.
