here is the key:

Upper Class: you (or your parents) make over $150,000

Upper Middle Class: you (or your parents) make between $70,000 and $150,000

Middle Class: you (or your parents) make between $30,000 and $70,000

Lower Middle Class: you (or your parents) make between $7,000 and $30,000

Working Poor: you (or your parents) make up to $7,000

source: http://taxes.yahoo.com/rates.html

and for those who are still dependants, i am referring to your parents or guardians.  you probably don't have an exact idea of what your parents make since my own do not even tell me, but just give a general idea on what you think it is.

P.S. this is an anonymous forum, so don't worry too much about whether this question is infringing on your privacy.

Something between middle and upper middle. They don't disclose.

Compensating for the exchange rate, I'm in the lower realm of the middle class.  My family makes roughly US$35,000/year.

i'd have to assume that as i'm an out-of-state college student at the University of Washington, and that my parents are paying my full tuition, i'd have to say that my parents are somewhere between middle class and upper middle class.  it's all circumstantial evidence of course, but what else do i have to rely upon?

Why'd you go to Washington if you live in VA?

Family: Upper middle

Since I am not claimed as a dependent....

Myself: Middle class.

I must add that for the Philadelphia area, these brackets should be much higher.

for a number of reasons -one, i liked the location; two, my sister lives here with her boyfriend, and also because i have extended family scattered throughout Puget Sound; and three, i wanted some distance away from my parents.

My salary at my last co-op job was $55,000.  That translates to about US$46,000.  I'm unsure whether you consider me a dependent or not, but I am going with NOT being a dependent.

I'm therefore Middle Class.

My mom is upper middle class, making 80k a year plus whatever bonuses she might get.

I myself make about 30k a year if I actually worked the whole year, but I'm a college student and most of the money I make goes towards school, so I'm pretty dependent upon mom.

my parents are on the cusp between Middle and Upper Middle, but I'm largely self supportive, so I'll go with Lower Middle, which I'm on the low end of.

On my job alone, I'd be well beyond working poor, however, I do live with my parents and I think we're border line upper-middle and upper class.

it seems in this area it doesn't mean much.  The cost of living is getting exorbitant.  I'm making close to $40,000 and I can't even look for a freaking condo.

Yet, probably too rich for significant financial aid.  I know the feeling.

my parents are upper middle class.  I'm lower middle class but I'm a college student who only works part time and live with my parents.  So I have more money than I need
