Only mildly surprising considering the fact that he hasn't been a senator for more than two years now.

Apparently Cruz's vote was due to his fear of the UN black helicopters coming for him....

Yes, but that's only until they convince Aaron Schock to have his last name legally changed to Rodriguez.

His mother (and possibly father?) were American citizens at the time, so it shouldn't be an issue.

So was Obama's mother. And he was born in Hawaii.

And still, a lot of Republicans said that he was born in Kenya and could not be President. Interesting to see what the same people will do and say when Cruz will run for President. Likely, they will keep their mouth shut.

It doesn't look like Menendez will hold the chairmanship of the FRC for long

Ted Cruz is a despicable human being.

"We've got two pending nominations, John Kerry and Chuck Hagel. Both of whom are very prominently less than ardent fans of the U.S. military."  For someone who never served in the military, that's a pretty harsh criticism of 2 people who served this country.

I've never understood why a military ought to be something one is an 'ardent fan' of in the first place, as opposed to something that one respects (if one does respect it) as a by-definition-unfortunate necessity.

He's the loser face the GOP wanted. He was only picked (by the GOP) because he's already been smeared and accepted by the public, as weak and loserly Why would any of them vote against him?

.... wow. interesting theory.
so how many votes can we expect for Hagel after the smear campaign and all the criticism of his performance in the armed service committee hearing?  98?

Hagel was not hand picked by the GOP specifically for eau de failure. He performed poorly at his confirmation hearings but most people have still never heard of him. I expect very few Republicans to vote for him.
