let's say you were running a country and you thought the current tax rate was just fine. But then for some reason you have to change it and you have to either raise them by 10% or lower them by 10%, you just can't keep it the way it is. what would you do?

I'd raise them.

cutting taxes cannot be a panacea for every ill, especially when you are in the middle of a war, and what better source to draw it from than those who can best afford to pay it?  i say raise it, both to fund the war on terror (it is your patriotic duty, after all), and to reduce the budget deficit.

there is a certain point when cutting taxes becomes less of an economic method and more of a knee-jerk response with no rationale.  those who insist on cutting taxes ad infinitum are irresponsible.

Not having any more information, lower; there are a lot more cases where lower taxes are helpful than where higher taxes are helpful.

Everyone should pay the exact same rate on every luxury they enjoy within the boundaries of the United States. Anything else is a socialist scheme. When government wants to raise taxes, it shouldn't be able to just raise them on 10% of the electorate. It should be flat and across the board, so that the government is accountable.

Anyone who wants to pay a lower rate should have to surrender his/her vote.
