It's what the title says! Where do the rest of you Atlasian's work and what do you do there?

I'm working at Northwestern Mutual in the call center. My position is Customer Service Representative I (meaning I'm at the lowest level).

Unlike Bushie's call center experiences we actually get trained a LOT. Basically it's a 10 month probationary period with on and off training for 14 months. So it's usually a month of training and then going back in for more training where at the end of the process (and then more on the job work and proficiency) we'll make it up to Tier 3.

I've been there since April 30 and everything has been going great, along with great pay. If everything keeps going well and I keep learning the new material like I have been I'll (as well as the whole training class) will get a promotion to Tier 2 starting in March.

I work as a civil servant for the Ministry of Justice dealing with applications for government compensation for crime victims. I deal with older, complex cases under an old, abandoned scheme that follows common law civil litigation. I also attend judicial hearings to finalise these cases. Been at the job for 5 and a half years.

I used to work for a polling company during my freshman year of college. Easy work, but incredibly boring. Jersey was always the worst place to call.

Dude if we counted all your employers in the past 2  years (including scams, Leip would need more bandwidth.

Probably true, but the question was where do you work? Not where have you worked?

University student.

Why do we have so many people working in call centers? I wasn't under the impression it was a particularly common job.

Considering there literally hundreds, if not thousands, of call centers in the world and each call center employs anywhere between 10-100 people or much more, not too surprising to me.

After getting trained up to Teir 3 and being with the company for 22 months it's rather easy to get another job within the company. I'm hoping to get into the HR department sometime around Feb-March of 2014. Plus our call center pays above market value in our area so that's another plus besides working for one of the best companies in the area you can work for.

Are you kidding?  It is practically the only work available to the under-35s, other than waiting tables or perhaps frying hamburgers.

As for myself - Token.  I'm very, very good at it.

What do you think all the "middle-class, white collar workers" in this country do? Someone needs to collect all that debt Americans owe.

I have no idea how to not make this sound disgustingly elitist, but I thought call centres were outsourced to India.

I've never met a person who has openly worked in a call centre.

Basically the people that micromanage you for your/their bosses simfan, we wouldn't have to suffer this aspect of capitalism  if we had proper union representation in more workplaces.
