In 2012, it was hottest in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg with 38.3°C (101°F)and coldest in Tannheim with -28.9°C (-20°F).

In general, the year 2012 was about 1°C hotter than the average from 1971-2000 and also the precipitation was much higher in 2012 than in the long-term average. Tyrol and Carinthia had the most snow- and rainfall in 2012, compared with the long-term average, while Burgenland had a lower precipitation than in the long-term average.
