I actually have a neutral opinion of him.  I feel bad for him.  I think in a different political climate he'd be a more moderate member of the house.

I feel sorry for him. I still voted HP because of the debt ceiling crisis and him being... him, but at least he tried to get something through congress. He's not as bad as his caucus. But he's still pretty bad. I miss Speaker Pelosi.

Probably not a horrible person outside of politics, but in a political context, a definite HP.

HP. I still can't quite figure out how he's the leader of the House Republicans.

HP. I still can't quite figure out how he's the leader of the House Republicans.

His predecessor for the leadership position was Tom DeLay so it makes sense why the Republicans wanted to go with someone bland and unnotable. The fact that he was also so hilariously ineffective wasn't as clear then.

Ok I was wondering where they found this guy.

Not to mention that was also during the Bush years, before Republicans really went off the deep end. I always thought it was more odd at how the Speakership under Hastert was a figurehead to the Majority Leader (namely DeLay).

Moderate? He's a big government lie-bral. Don't make him out to be somewhere in the middle.

FF.  He's better than having a Southern Republican as House Speaker, and infinitely better than Nancy Pelosi.  I've never heard Boehner say "we've gotta pass the bill to find out what's in it."

I'd argue that he is the least effective Speaker in generations.

I don't think he is a horrible person but he is bland when compared to Gingrich or even Pelosi.  He is the only one though that tries to act like an adult most of the time though. You have the tea party that always fights him and President Obama won't compromise with him now because he is playing political percentages.
