How many votes would they have to miss for expulsion?

I don't have a particular number in mind yet. But to give you an example of a possible scenario, we could mandate that a member of the Assembly must not miss more than five consecutive votes (votes on amendments and final votes) without posting a leave of absence.

Alright, that seems quite reasonable.

Attention Mideasterners!

Voting is now open on the Freedom of Religion Amendment. The bill was passed by the Assembly and needs to be voted on by the citizens of the Mideast now.

The Freedom of Religion Amendment has been passed by an overwhelming majority of those Mideasterners who have voted. I am glad because our constitution should take into account that many Mideasterners worship deities other than "Dave".

I hereby sign this bill, expecting that four or more Mideasterners will publicly protest the bill's passage so that there will be a public referendum.

Mideast Assembly Vacancy

With Gass' election to the Senate there is a vacancy in the Mideast Assembly now (congratularions to Gass!). I encourage Mideasterners who are interested in an appointment to contact me. I will then discuss all options with my Lt. Governor Cathcon.

Mideast Assembly Vacancies

With Gass' election to the Senate and a Person's resignation there are two vacancies in the Mideast Assembly now (congratularions to Gass; thanks to both Gass and a Person for their service!). I have been contacted by several individuals who are interested in an appointment so that I am confident that I and my Lt. Governor will be able to make a decision soon.

Gentlemen (and ladies?), I regret to inform you that I may be away from my duties as Lt. Governor shortly as the forces of the IDS Militia have been mobilized by Emperor SJoyce in response to the chaos in what was formerly the Pacific Region. I have been assigned to serve in Odessa, Texas as per my orders. For Dave and Country, I bid you farewell, for now. Dave-willing I shall return as soon as possible. I nevertheless have a duty that needs to be fulfilled.

You mean we have a Lt Gov who chooses to serve in some other region's militia instead of ours?!

Had I been given a post in the Mideast's militia (or been aware that such an institution existed), I no doubt would have rushed to join it. The South had one and I received a position. I am proud to serve such a region. If you'll observe the bill I recently submitted to the Assembly, I am hoping to raise our region's military preparedness as well.

Since I don't think that the dissolution of the Pacific is constitutional, I will not support the involvement of our region in any existing annexation plans; there's simply no need for that. Lt. Governor Cathcon is free to serve in the IDS militia if he chooses to do so, but the citizens of the Mideast can rest assured that the proper functioning of our regional government is not in danger.

I can't say I'm really happy of you not condemning civil war in this country (notwithstanding the current debate on legality of regional militias). Your Lt. Gov. wants to take weapons against other Atlasians! As one of our nation governors, I think you should show the way and stand against that useless violence.

I neither think this case is my business nor do I take it too seriously. Thus I have decided to simply state my opinion on the constitutionality of this affair, make clear that Lt. Governor Cathcon is independent and can make private decisions on his own and that the Mideast shall not be affected by this mess. At the end of the day, things will settle down and continue as usual.

I'd like to remind my fellow Mideasterners to vote in the federal election as well as on the two regional proposals:

Mideast Electoral Reform Act

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=175176.0

Inactivity Amendment

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=175175.0

For what it's worth, I officially endorse TJ for Regional Senator. I had the pleasure to work with him in the Mideast Assembly roughly one and a half years ago and was impressed by his two terms as Atlasian Senator. His work ethic was commendable and he proved his ability to work successfully with members of all parties.
