Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Stephen Lynch should pull a Lieberman and run a strong independent campaign against that Cambridge nutcase.

Stephen Lynch is a union man, and Ed Markey is in fact from Malden.

I think he's saying he wants that so that the vote is split so a Republican wins, but maybe I'm wrong.

Hmm, that's a thought. Lieberman won, though. Eliot Cutler would have been a better (though still inane) comparison from recent New England politics, except for having been an independent all along, or at least throughout the campaign.

Btw, why on earth is Markey running? This really doesn't make sense. Not only he's kinda old for a freshman (66). More importantly he'll transfer from one of the most senior, and thus influential, members of the House (8th) into a freshman Senator who, for obvious reason, won't have much time to gain seniority and influence there: essentially a wasted seat. Usually move from the House to Senate is an elevation, but here it'll be a demotion.

I understand it made some sense for Mike Castle. Before Biden leaving his seat, he was leaning toward retiring from politics altogether, but got a chance for maybe short, but nice finish of his career, before Christy upset him in primary. It was also good for the GOP, since he was literally only remaining electable Republican. Maybe Markey wants the same, but it's a wasted seat for Massachusetts, since his successor would have from zero as well.
O'Donnell's win wasn't really an upset.  She was leading in the polls by the time of the primary.

who's the Cambridge nutcase? If you're referring to Markey, he's not from Cambridge (he's from Malden) and Cambridge isn't even in his district. It's in Capuano's

Correct. I'm poking fun at myself for one of my incorrect predictions.

I'm disapointed that Markey is the best we can do. I'm sure he would be a good senator, but the Democrats need to do a much better job at pushing along young risers for these jobs. There wasn't someone in the State Senate that could of ran?

It opens up Markey's house seat for an up and comer, at least.

Do you think she'd actually run for office? It seems even less likely than Michelle Obama running for senate from Illinois, plus Ann has health problems.

She'd have to break with her husband on a lot to be competitive and that would probably look bad.  There's no way she'd win, and I don't expect her to run.

Don't both the Romneys live in California now, anyway?

She'd probably do about as well as her mother in law did when she ran for Senate.

I'm just hearing it. I'm not sure its likely, but Massachusetts Republicans are pressuring the Romney family tree. They are doing a lot to avoid Weld.

No. That seat is gone for Pubs until the next Scott Brown emerges. Problem is finding young talent to fit said mold.

This.  Weld would only have a shot if he ran as an Independent.  Also, he hasn't been relevant for years.

Clearly what we need is more rampant and unsubstantiated rumor milling for Weld.

-Weldforsenate.com was registered 2/1/2013, through a legal proxy. Of course it could not possibly be a domain squatter.

-Tisei ramped up quickly and jumped out quickly, clearly someone pushed for him to exit, and it had nothing to do with his eyes on 2014 MA-6.

-Weld did his media blitz, and we all know Weld hates attention for attentions sake, and his current job has nothing to do with his political capital.

But seriously, the GOP primary is going to be Dan Winslow vs. County Sherrif Lew Evangelidis.

Also, Weld is officially out.
