I will vote against over-riding the President's veto.

I will not, and I wouldn't do it even if I disagreed with the bill. The senate was elected by The People, and it's a shame that the president takes almost every opportunity he can to challenge that fact. Vetoes have a place, but I just can't agree with the way this president has been using them.

Actually upon further reflection, it wouldn't be fair to vote against this in a non-symbolic way.

I agreed to this compromise, a compromise the bill's supporters probably weren't all happy with....and said I wouldn't block it. I'll stand by that pledge and abstain on the veto override.

This bill is a perfectly reasonable compromise and I urge my fellow Senators to join me in voting to override this veto.  Let's win one for The People Smiley

The Vice President may start a veto override vote at any time. The vote is conducted the same way as a final vote, but requires 2/3rds to vote in the affirmative to pass as per Article 1 of the Constitution (no link, go find it yourself Tongue).

The senate was elected by The People, and it's a shame that the president takes almost every opportunity he can to challenge that fact.

The President was elected by The People, and it's a shame that some Hagrid guy takes almost every opportunity he can to challenge that fact and ignore that the President's election was more democratic than that of the Senate.

I vetoed this bill for two reasons: I do not intend to drop charges against the criminals because we happened to change the law after they decided to break it, and I do not think that online gambling legalization will solve more problems than it creates.

Well, with the amount of time it takes you to respond to passed legislation, I thought you might have abdicated your throne.

Just so everyone's clear, the VP is requesting (read demanding) it be done in 24 hours. As far as I know these are done the same as final votes, timewise, as far as procedures are concerned. Still I won't complain if misleading you guys gets it done quicker. Evil

FOR SAKE OF BEN NOT OUT CLASSING ME IN TERMS OF EMOTIONALLY CHARGED VOTING, AYE!!! Tongue (Even if it is only a façade, regardless Evil)
