I've also decided that I will sign a ballot petition for the "Wandel" party.

(But I'm not really confident they will get enough signatures in any state other than Vienna).

Because "Der Wandel" is doing reaaaaallly badly with collecting signatures in Salzburg (only 9% in so far), I will sign one for the Pirates now.

The Communists have now more than the required signatures in 4 states:

* Vienna
* Lower Austria
* Tyrol
* Burgenland

Upper Austria is 70% in.

Funny that they are not 100% yet in Styria, their stronghold.

The Pirates have collected another 200 signatures today, which brings their total to 2100 of 2600.

Some states, like the 3 Western states + Burgenland still look problematic - but there are 6 collection days left.

500 are needed for an average of 85 per day. They are collecting twice of that each day now.

Doesn't look too bad ... Smiley

"derStandard"-interview and video with Rebecca Sabau from the CPÖ (Christian Party) for their series "Young Politics".

Sabau is 20 years old, already married and is strongly against abortion and gay-marriage. In the interview she says for example that "the gays she met became gay because of traumatic events like a missing father and that they should try a therapy" and that "gay marriage is against God's plans".

Her biggest idol she says is "Esther", who as a Jew convinced the Persian King not to kill all Jews in the ancient Persia. Because of this, it is now a Jewish holiday. Read more here:

I don't think so.

It's just her opinion, even though a very wrong one IMO. Her views are guided by the Bible, which then should also not be published ... and so on.

She says that the "the gays she met became gay because of traumatic events like a missing father and that they should try a therapy".

This is not "hatred", just very ignorant of the fact that gay people are born gay already and no therapy should be used for them, nor is there any reason why there should be.

In this regard, she's not much different to the US fundies - yet a lot of US fundies even have their own talkshow-programmes to indoctrinate others with their crazy thoughts.

Otherwise, she's likeable to me.

Well, they are paying for those talkshows. It doesn't mean than a respectable newspaper should publish those things without warnings. They could convince some parents.

I don't think I have to pay for watching the various right-wing nuts talk on FOX ? Or listen to Limbaugh and others on the radio ?

And isn't it what independent newspapers such as the center-left/liberal "Standard" supposed to do, to also provide a standpoint from persons/parties that are opposite to them ? I think people and parents are "old" and "mature" enough to form their own opinion.

And besides, during their interview with her, the interviewer sometimes said things like "Are you for real now ?", showing that her ignorance on gays is quite the opposite of the newspaper "ideology". But that's how the "Standard" is: It often publishes reports about crazy people/parties with crazy/alternative views, especially from the Right or Far Right ...

That's why it's my favourite newspaper, because sometimes only this newspaper is reporting it and nobody else does ... Wink

Oh, if they are like that usually. I was just afraid it was one of those newspaper acting as if anything said to them is worth gold and always true.

This is not "hatred", just very ignorant of the fact that gay people are born gay already and no therapy should be used for them, nor is there any reason why there should be.

Born gay? Are they? Really? Would you care to point this statistician who specialises in research into sexual orientation causation and mutability to the academic paper that proves that contention?

In all seriousness, the argument over what causes sexual orientation is still an open book. We have evidence of some form of genetic component but also some really interesting indications of environmental factors too. And one thing we *cannot* say, and may never be able to say, is that we know that people are "born gay".

So let's drop it, because I can argue this all afternoon from both directions. As happy to take on those who argue people are born gay as I am people who say it's all just a developmental psychological issue.

Vorarlberg might be the state with the most parties on the ballot:

* SPÖ
* ÖVP
* FPÖ
* BZÖ
* Greens
* TS
* NEOS
* KPÖ

* Men's Party (80% in)
* CPÖ (78% in)
* Pirates (70% in)
* EU-Exit (55% in)

Those is Green are already on the ballot or have enough signatures.

If "Der Wandel" makes it on the ballot in Vienna and EU-Exit fails in Vorarlberg, Vienna would have the same amount of parties like Vorarlberg.

The only difference is that the SLP is on the ballot in Vienna too, while the Men's Party and the CPÖ would not be on the ballot.

She vaguely looks like Taylor Swift, but obviously T Swift is better she's not some horrible Christian bigot (and she doesn't live in Austria).

Thank Goodness then that we have Taylor Swift !

There are millions of other teenaged and young American girls in the Bible Belt that are horrible Christian bigots, wearing chastity rings and other stuff - whereas here you can count those girls down on 2 hands ... Tongue
