So Thomson essentially has to win what is left of Bx and keep deBlasio under 40 and have Quinn keep DeBlasio down in Manhattan. What is left in Brooklyn looks good for deBlasio

Well, there's the end of Eliot Spitzer's career.

The bad news for de Balsio in Manhattan is the part not in are in Upper West Side and Chelsa.  While it is totally possible that de Balsio could win many of the outstanding districts, it is likely he would win them with less than 40% of the vote.

..de Blasio down to 39.97% with 94% in, per WNYC's tally.

Cobble Hill in Brooklyn not in.  Cobble Hill should vote in a similar way as Carrol Gardens so it should be de Blasio with about 60% of the vote.

We're probably not going to find out if de Blasio made it until the absentee ballots are all counted. Ugh.

Charles Hynes is completely ineffective and his office is a mess (also, he's 78, time to retire dude).   He also has an unwritten deal with the Hasidic community not to prosecute crimes within their community.  The Kings County DA has routinely ignored a child sexual abuse problem in the Hasidic community.  It's really terrible.

A bit, yeah? Police and fire were out for Thompson. Many of the more law and order types liked his middle of road approach on the stop and frisk.

Also, the teacher's union went for Thompson.  A lot of those middle class types live in places like Staten Island, Breezy Point and eastern Queens.

My aunt called me as she was on the way to the polls. She told me her union (the teachers) told her to vote for Thompson. She's in Queens so that kind of speaks to your point. She's a diehard Republican though and was voting for Lhota.

Ah. Good that he lost then. Who won, and what can we expect from the winner?

EDIT: Wait, Hynes was on the Republican AND the Democratic ballots? How is that legal?

Fusion.  Cross-endorsements are allowed in New York.  The minor parties usually back the Democratic or Republican candidate.  Where there are no viable Republicans, it's not unknown for Republicans to cross-endorse the Democrat, especially in judicial-type races.

Looks like Thompson won the hipster vote. Williamsburg was by far his best area.

That's probably block voting by the Orthodox Jews who live and, more importantly, actually vote in Williamsburg.
