I absolutely support Halvorson and oppose the lies being spread by New York bankster Bloomberg. She can't control what rating she gets from the NRA, and does support universal background checks (the ad claims otherwise). Halvorson is the best option for IL-2's families.

Halvorson winning would be really awesome. So, actually, would a Green Party victory; much as I like guns, ultimately this is just one House seat which the HPs will certainly take back in 2014 anyway and it would be nice to see some third party representation in the House; variety is good.

Just great, the bankster shill is leading thanks to a massive ad campaign of lies and slander. Nice work, Bloomy.

Yeah, it's official now.  Robin Kelly wins!

Despite that odd poll showing Halvorson ahead, it seemed inevitable that Kelly would win after Toi Hutchinson dropped out (and the whole Bloomberg thing as well, haha.)

Kelly landslide. Victory Research for WCKG am radio was possibly not so hot at the ol' demographic weighting.

You've been duped by Bloomy's Super PAC campaign too? Lame.

Quite a shame. Sad I hope Kelly's the real deal here and doesn't turn out to be a shill. Tongue

I'm no lefty, but I dunno how any Democrat could vote for Halverson. Pandering to Fox News and the NRA.

Paul McKinley is the leader in the Republican primary right now.  He claims victory but he's only winning by about 20 votes.

Kelly had the advantage of running for treasurer and should of won barring ginnoulius scandle. Halverson appeared to be the conservative in race and lost like one.

Normally I'd feel the same, but in this case I'll make an exception. The NRA is usually such an omnipotent juggernaut that can roll over even the most hallowed of American interests, including first responders, teachers, doctors, the chamber of commerce, and families of schoolchildren. Even a Super PAC is an underdog when going up against it.

Well, considering the district, that's probably a pretty substantial margin. Wink

Basically this and if Bloomberg, with the help of mayors all over America, wants to use his money to help get guns off the street, more power to him.

The NRA didn't fund this race (indeed, if they had it would have backfired). And Halvorson correctly pointed out that this race is about more than gun control, but Kelly wanted to make it a single-issue campaign and Bloomy made it so.

Lol, that radio poll was off by about 35 points.

And it was a scientific poll though, but from a pollster I have never heard of before.

Glad that Kelly won. No democrat should win who deigns to go on Faux News and panders to the NRA, arguably the worst organization in this country outside of WBC.

Yeah, Halvorson was bankrolled by her buddies in the Will County GOP.

Regardless, I don't see what you're upset about. Other than gun control, there are zero ideological differences between the candidates. (Also, IMO gun control and Bloomberg were
probably irrelevant to the result. It was all race. Kelly + Beale v. Halvorson was pretty much exactly JJJ v. Halvorson last year. But Kelly is a thousand times better than JJJ.)

GOP front runner Paul McKinley is  already a convicted felon and given the history of people who have held this seat, he has a leg up on the competition.

Lenny McAllister        60        242          199      368      869
Beverly A. Reid           62        181            76      212      531

James H. Taylor Sr     26          79              -        122      227 (withdrew-not toalt in Will)
Eric M. Wallace           39        285          254      354      932

In the Dem pimary Halvorsen carried Will and Kankakee Counties and also Chicago's 10th ward which is not majorityAfrican American.  (23% White, 16% AA, and 60% Hispanic)

Acting like this is some sort of blow against the NRA is inane. It'd be one thing if Halvorson trumped her NRA endorsement and they spent tons of money for her, but the NRA basically ignored the race.

Actually even if that happened it doesn't really prove anything since a district based around Chicago's South Side rejecting an NRA-backed candidate isn't exactly the upset of the century. So I can understand the bitterness in a Bloomberg SuperPAC succesfully smearing a candidate on this, though there are plenty of other reasons to not prefer Halvorson (not that I cared if she won, she'd just then lose the primary in 2014. She's not Steve Cohen.)
