Flashback - July 10th to July 14th - Green Convention

The speech of Mr Kucinch was made a week before the convention, then Mr Nader and his Running Mate went to the Green Convention of July 10th to 14th.

Mr Nader clinched the Nomination on the last day of the convention barely uncontested, though independent Mr Bloomberg got some few delegates.

Here it's Mr Nader Speech:

September 8th - September 15th starts now.

RNC results:
John McCain 1772 (81.17%)
Chuck Hagel 159 (7.28%)
Ron Paul 107 (4.9%)
Michael Bloomberg 106 (4.86%)
Newt Gingrich 39 (1.79%)

After Conventions, undecideds start deciding!!

Ralph Nader reaches 4%. Musician Eddie Vedder and actor Viggo Mortensen endorse him.

An internal from the democratic party has Bloomberg leading in Indiana, Dean leading in Iowa and Colorado tied!

Dean appeals to the progressive base while McCain finally stops bleeding after VP pick. Is that because he got all the press this week or will he keep his lead?.

_________________________________________________________________

National:
John McCain 36%
Howard Dean/Patty Murray 31% 181
Michael Bloomberg/Evan Bayh 24.5%
Ralph Nader 4%
Undecided 4.5% 91 EVs

(PM for state polls)
(Believe me when I say I've worked a lot with this TL today, I have "internals" for every state, I've made a list with every state and how many times each of you have visited it ... That'll be very important on Election Night...)

(Oh, and use your VPs!)

(And finally, I suppose we'll have debates soon. NHI will moderate at least one of them, but does anyone else want to moderate? Thanks!)

Vice President Candidate Kucinich Schedule

"Howard Dean presided over the biggest Democratic gains I've seen in a long time. That being said, Howard Dean never changed the Democratic conversation. He never fought the Bush image, he never fought Bush's unconstitutional policies. Instead, he won elections by picking candidates that moved to Bush's playing field. Instead of playing the more progressive game, he cowered, like the Democratic Party typically does. Why do Progressives keep electing cowards? Nader and I have records of standing up for our constituticies, innocent people who have nothing but their representatives. It's time we had real progressivism, real liberalism in the White House, instead of these phony frauds that keep occupying the white house. Kucinich/Nader and the Green Party are the future, and we will transform America into something better."

It's great to be here in California! While other candidates have ignored this state during the election, I am absolutely committed to winning the Golden State this November! We have new offices springing up all over the state, and I truly believe the momentum is shifting towards us.

People of California and around the nation are beginning to awaken and realize something - in order to change Washington, we need to change the people we're sending there. The Republicans are running John McCain, a respected war hero and distinguished Senator. However, McCain has been a staunch advocate for the failed policies of President Bush, and has become part of the complacent ways of Washington D.C. Governor Howard Dean isn't much better - he actually ran the Democratic Party!

We need to stand together and say NO to the establishment in D.C. and start electing leaders who are dedicated to putting Americans first. That's just the President I will be, and I hope I can count on your vote!

- Mike Bloomberg, at a rally in California

Dean/Murray Campaign Schedule, September 8th-14th:

September 8th:

-Fundraiser in Chicago, Illinois
-Meet & Greet in Blue Island, Illinois
-Rally in Gary, Indiana with Congressman Pete Visclosky

"Towns like Gary used to be the cornerstones of the American economy, regions that manufactured more goods than anywhere else and exported more goods than anywhere else. But thanks to harmful trade agreements, union-busting, and most offensive of all, tax INCENTIVES for sending American jobs overseas, people around here are hurting. They're hurting because of policies supported by corporate cronies like Bush, and McCain, and Bloomberg. When Patty and I are in the White House, that will change."

September 9th:

-Meet & Greet in La Porte, Indiana
-Rally in Kalamazoo, Michigan
-Fundraiser in Grand Rapids, Michigan

September 10th:

-Town Hall in Lansing, Michigan
-Rally in Ann Arbor, Michigan
-Rally in Pontiac, Michigan
-Meeting with labor leaders in Detroit, Michigan

September 11th:

-Flight to New York City
-Attending 9/11 remembrance ceremony
-Fundraiser in New York City
-Patty Murray: appearance on The Colbert Report

September 12th:

-Fundraiser in Mineola, New York
-Rally in East Hampton, New York
-Flight to New Hampshire

"I'm glad to be back in my home town, and I can promise I'll pay a visit as President."

September 13th:

-Rally in Portsmouth, New Hampshire
-Rally in Manchester, New Hampshire
-Town Hall in Concord, New Hampshire

"You know, I'm already seeing signs of desperation from the Bloomberg campaign. Their only line of attack seems to be bringing up Howard's past record as chair of the DNC. I for one am proud of the work done. Thanks to that great combination of angry voters and the 50-state strategy, we were able to take back both houses of Congress, take both of the Granite State's congressional districts, and send a message to the Washington establishment that Americans were fed up with war and cronyism."

September 14th:

-Rally in Conway, New Hampshire
-Town Hall in Alfred, Maine
-Rally in Portland, Maine

*If you want to complete your schedule (Bayh EDIT:and Nader) you can, it won't be useless but it won't have the same effects as if you had done it at time. If you had told me that you wouldn't be able to update this early I'd have had my update tomorrow, but you haven't...

What about having a debate next week? It'll change things if there's a clear winner, so you decide (1 vote for each candidate, you decide: I suppose at least 3 of you will vote 'yes' on the debate).

**McCain, Dean, you can use republican and democrat senators, governors or representatives as long as they haven't supported Bloomberg or Nader. I have some other democrats and/or republicans who may support Bloomberg or Nader, but I'm almost sure you won't use them in your campaigns. If you want a member of the opposite party endorsing you, PM me: if it's realistic enough, you'll have his/her endorsement.

***There won't be polls next week if you decide to have a debate. If it's the case (and I'm sure you want to debate) the next poll will be after the debate.

Michael Bloomberg Campaign Schedule: September 16th - 22nd

September 16th: Accompanied by Senator Dick Lugar, Mayor McDermott
Meet and Greet - Joilet, Illinois
Meet and Greet - Chicago Heights, Illinois
Town Hall Meeting - Hammond, Indiana
Town Hall Meeting - Griffith, Indiana

You see, Evan Bayh and I are too individuals who, unlike the other candidates in the race, have a proven record of fighting for bi-partisan solutions. As Mayor, I ran as a Republican but worked quite often with Democrats, and working together, we were able to achieve a balanced budget in our nation, and it's now in the best financial situation it has been in decades. As Governor, Evan Bayh implemented moderate solutions that improved Indiana's education system and kept their economy going strong. He's taken that same approach to Washington D.C., where he has often fought against the party bosses and elite to fight for the good, working man. With this kind of attitude and leadership in Washington, I know we can turn things around!

Bloomberg speaks to students at the University of Michigan

Thank you for having me here today. The situation for young Americans has only worsened in recent years, with more and more graduating either unemployed or underemployed. What's even worse, with rising tuition costs, students are also graduating with tens of thousands of dollars in debt. The policies implemented by both Republicans and Democrats have not been good for the future of America, and it's time we start taking steps to fix this, rather than continue down the same path.

As President, I will fight for legislation to reduce the student loan interest rate from 3.4% to .75%, which is the same rate our government gives to big banks. If it's good enough for them, I'd certainly think it's good for the future leaders of America. With moderation, hard work, and the willingness to compromise, I know we can set up an economy and a nation that is ready to handle the many brilliant minds ready to lead our nation!

The debates coming up will provide Americans with an excellent opportunity to see first-hand that the two-party system in this country isn't working. We need a new direction, new leadership, and a willingness to work together. Howard Dean has demonized Republicans time and time again - he may shrug that off, but I believe showing such disrespect to people who you would need to work with as President is a serious issue. We need a President who will unite this nation, not bring further division. That's exactly why we cannot afford to have four years of a divisive President dean.

Dean/Murray Campaign Ad: Shining the Rustbelt
aired in the following states:

Announcer: Across America and especially in the industrial heartland, unemployment is skyrocketing. More and more jobs are going to China to exploit cheap labor, and Bush-McCain policies are helping them do it.

Dean: I'm Howard Dean and I approve this message, because in order to remain the strongest economy in the world, we have to revitalize American manufacturing and stand up to those who want to cut costs by cutting American jobs.

This is shaping up to be a fine election. Most of these choices are good options, and it's good to see a multitude of third party options - in particular I'd like to single out Ralph Nader, who has a lot of good ideas and is running a very sharp campaign. However, in this election, I have to support the candidate I agree with the most, and we're lucky that the Democrats nominated such a good candidate. Governor Dean would make a great President, and I'm proud to offer him support. If he ever wants to come up to Anchorage for an appearance with me, Mark (he's running against Young), Tony, and Ethan, I think we really do stand a chance of making this state blue. That's what I'm trying to do with my Senate campaign, and I think Howard's exactly the right kind of Democrat - still principled, still opposed to the war, but with fiscal responsibility and a respect for individual liberty - that can really stand a chance of winning here in Alaska. - Former US Senator, former 2008 Democratic presidential candidate, and now 2008 US Senate candidate Mike Gravel (D-AK).
