"Mrs. Winfrey's right when she points out the problems with a Hillary Clinton candidacy. We cannot afford a Democrat who can't make up their mind of the biggest quagmire since Vietnam. But Oprah has no executive or legislative experience. I served as Governor for 11 years in Vermont. As DNC chair, I've worked with strategists and candidates nationwide. She has no background or practice to deal with the issues of our time. I believe I do."

Part of speech Blanche Lincoln gave on Jan 3rd.

I know that you might be disappointed but you know what, we have came a long way.  If you had told us that we were going to get third in Iowa when i first announced my run i would have been excited.  We will go on to South Carolina and , with your help, will bring back this country and bring it into a new age.

Newt Gingrich's Iowa Speech:

"I know some of you may be disappointed that I did not win in Iowa, but I don't think a third place in such a close contest is bad at all. As of now, I'm aiming to make strong showings in all of the early primaries, so I'm expecting 10% in New Hampshire and Wyoming, the states in which I campaigned the less, 20% in Michigan and Nevada, and outright victories in South Carolina, Florida and Maine that will lead to the nomination.

I also wish to congratulate Senator Hagel for his victory, while making the main point of this speech: This is not over. I believe we successfully passed the real first stage of our big ideas campaign, and thanks to that, and with your help, we are now moving on to Michigan, South Carolina and beyond!"

Am I disappointed? Yes. Do I think we could have done better? Probably. Am I happy with the results? Hell yes I am. Almost 8 thousand of you entrusted me with your vote and your support, and I'm proud that I was able to earn the support of so many of you. We can go on to win more delegates, earn more votes, and we can eventually win the Presidency! This is only the beginning: on to New Hampshire, on to Nevada, on to Super Tuesday!

"Folks, what did I tell you? This is a great victory, and it speaks to our ability to move forward. The strength of this campaign will continue forward when we move to give John McCain a run for his money in New Hampshire and Nevada! Once we do that, its on to Super Tuesday and then to the White House! I would like to congratulate John McCain on his victory in Wyoming, which was a disappointing loss, but momentum is on our horizon and we are going to take by the horns! I think our message of true conservatism with bi-partisanship is gaining traction with all Americans, and I hope you join me for the journey!"

(Crowd is cheering “Ron Paul! Ron Paul!)
Iowa, tonight, to quote a phrase I often hear at my rallies, we have “stuck it to the man.”
(Thunderous cheers from the crowd.”
We didn’t get first place, but we are the real winners tonight. We showed the good ole boys that liberty matters, and that the Constitution cannot, and will not be ignored! We sent a message to them tonight. We don’t want these wars!
(Cheers)
We don’t want more intrusive government laws like the “Unpatriotic Act!”
(Louder cheers)
We don’t want the government spending all its money and making you pay for it!
(Cheers)
And we sure don’t need the Federal Reserve anymore!
(Thunderous cheers)
Iowa has two tickets out, and we got one of them. We came within a thousand votes of defeating Senator Hagel. We were supposed to not even close to 1,000 votes, none the less a 1,000 votes of winning according to the establishment. We came within a thousand votes of victory! The Revolution is alive and well in Iowa tonight!
(Thunderous cheers)
We have fought long and we have fought hard, and it has paid off. Our platform of more liberty and less war is growing. And it is all thanks to you! We could not of done this without you. You know, Senators Hagel and McCain and Speaker Gingrich, you know, they had money. But I had what counts-I had you.(Thunderous cheers)
You know, they called you all “crazy”, and they called you all “racists” and “liberals” and “chickens.” I’ll tell you what all of you here tonight and all those watching at home who supported me are-your freedom fighters!
(Thunderous cheers)
And where are my manners, I can’t believe I forgot to thank some key people. First and foremost, my wife Carol, who has been at my side for 51 amazing years and I love her more every day. I could never have done anything without Carol. And I am a very proud father tonight, because if my boys Robert, Ronald, and Rand weren’t out there campaigning for me every day, I wouldn’t have gotten here. And my girls, Lori and Joy, you have been on the home front, helping out on my congressional campaigns and at home, and I love you all so much. And Kent Snyder, our campaign chairman, and Governor Gary Johnson and Pat Buchanan for all their support as well!
(Cheers)
They say an idea whose time has come has come cannot be stopped. And our time has come. So let’s go off to New Hampshire, and show the GOP what the real Republicans want! So its off to New Hampshire, and lets win there!

Enjoy - I really liked it, though it cast Lincoln in too positive of a light.

Statement from Michael Bloomberg:
I congratulation Senator Hagel, a good friend of mine, as well as Senator Obama on their Iowa Caucus victories. While these are two fine men, these are also men who are party loyalists. Senator Obama has one of the most liberal voting records in the Senate during his very short time in office. This isn't the change we need. We need a Washington D.C. that is bi-partisan and takes good ideas from both Republicans and Democrats, and that is exactly what you will get on day one of a Bloomberg Administration.

'I congratulate Senator Obama on his win, as much as I'd have liked to win I was never expected to and to come an extremely close second is just such an amazing result for the campaign and I. Although a set back we march onto New Hampshire where we feel we are going strong. So thank you to the people in Iowa and my Iowa team we put in a great fight and we will continue fighting.'
