Congressman Matheson Calls Senator Thune and Wishes him to get better

Mitt Romney does likewise.

Newt Gingrich also calls Senator Thune to wish him well.

Senator Lincoln would like to wish the Thune family good wishes at this time.

I would like to wish the Senator well. He was a great candidate. Sad

Oct 8: Speeches and Barnstorming in Iowa
Oct 9: Barnstorming and Fundraiser in Iowa
Oct 10: Town Hall and University Speech in Iowa
Oct 11: Meet w/ Students and Barnstorming in Missouri
Oct 12: Fundraiser and Speeches in Tennessee
Oct 13: Rally in Kentucky. Barnstorming in Michigan
Oct 14: Fundraiser in California. Rally in Nevada

Questions:

1. I have several goals that I will accomplish in my first 100 days. First and foremost, I will withdraw our troops from Iraq and bring them home. We cannot afford to lose any more American lives. With the war in Iraq over, I will spend half of the savings on deficit reduction and the other half on a new education initiative. No Child Left Behind is another failed policy from this failed administration that must be replaced with something effective.
2. I would pick out justices that will protect the individual freedoms that all of our citizens have. I will pick out justices that will continue to uphold the decision in Roe vs Wade, and those who responsibly adhere to the Constitution.
3. I'd say my biggest weakness is my willingness to to adopt unpopular positions. In Oklahoma I've been an ardent supporter of a woman's right to choose and vetoed legislation that would have restricted abortion. Adopting unpopular positions can be an easy way to lose popular support in politics!

At a rally in Iowa, John Thune endorses Mike Gravel for President...

I know I may be upsetting some in my part for doing this, but Mike Gravel is a true American hero. We need him as our next President!!!

October 8-14th starts now.

The Debate-

Democrats- Gravel was largely viewed to have greatly exceeded expectations and received a bump which was only magnified by Thune's cross party endorsement. No one lost ground however but many Democratic viewers stated that they wanted more than just "Bush did it"

Republicans- As he is known for Newt Gingrich preformed very well. Others did as well but he received the most support following the debate due to his straight forward persona.

Polling Democrats

Iowa

Clinton 25%
Obama 20%
Winfrey 17%
Dean 7%
Gravel 6%
Lincoln 5%
Henry 3%
Biden 2%
Richardson 2%
Matheson 2%

New Hampshire-
Clinton 25%
Dean 23%
Winfrey 20%
Obama 11%
Biden 5%
Gravel 5%
Richardson 3%
Matheson 2%
Henry 1%
Lincoln 1%

Republican Polling

Iowa-
Romney 20%
Hagel 16%
Gingrich 15%
Paul 10%
McCain 6%
Sanford 4%

Rolled News Stories

Obama Gives Awkward "Uhhh....." when answering questions at a townhall-

Senator Barack Obama hosted a town hall but when asked about specifics on his foreign policy views by a heckler he took a while to respond and filled the gap with an Uhhhh...... some voters have been turned off but it still is yet to be judged how this will register.

Late Night TV brings back the Dean Scream from 2004 and poke fun-

One of Howard Dean's mistakes came back to haunt him today in the form of the Dean Scream. Jay Leno and SNL both reminded voters of it and a few have grown less enthusiastic due to hearing about it.

Gravel doubles numbers in many states, Awareness is rising

Gravel has been receiving an uptick in support following the debate and Thune's endorsement and it is clear the more some moderate voters know about him the more they support him. He's been doubling totals from last week in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Giuliani Endorses John McCain-

NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani announced that he is supporting John McCain for president stating "moderation is key both in governing and elections and John knows how to compromise. McCain has been competing for Romney with some moderate voters and will likely gain ground.

Richardson sure doesn't seem to be playing much for New Hampshire in the first week of his campaign.  I wonder why.
