An era is ending, his legacy will go on, but I am deeply saddened to see one of the only honest politicians in Washington leave.

Ron Paul will forever be, for many including myself, one of the greatest statesman the US has ever seen.

His uncompromising stances and firm moral fiber have resulted in, finally, a following that is ready to make a significant splash on the national stage. I will never forgot the contributions Dr. Paul brought to this country in the face of tremendous corruption and tyranny in the federal government.

THANK YOU DR. PAUL

He's almost gone. Our long national nightmare is almost over. Hopefully his son will give up his senate seat in 2016 to run for president and fail epically so we can never hear about them again.

As one of maybe 3 Congressman/Senators who had some notion of the problems America faces, he will be missed.

Paulism (the libertarian side of it in any case) will be better off without Paul.

Ron Paul stood for something.  That's more than I can say about a lot of Republican candidates these days.

Here here King. Thats more that can be said for some Democrats too. He will be sorrow missed. Ron Paul had principles that he's stuck by since his first election in 1976. Some have called him crazy. But he's always been right. He warned of 9/11. He warned of the 2008 Financial. Collapse. And He warned of the failures of Iraq and Afghanistan. He stood for something great. He might not have been the best messenger, or had the most followers. But it is the strength of ones convictions that determines success, not the number of followers or amount of popularity.

Listened to it earlier today. Definitely up there as one of the greatest speeches given in Congress, at least as far as content.

Even if you dont agree with his policies, you have to admire Paul as a person.

-He does not pander to groups, he speaks his mind freely, how many politicians can say that theyve never flip-flopped on an issue before? Since 1976, he's been saying the same things.

-He is incorruptible. Lobbyists, the GOP, the Democrats, pretty much any group you can think of understands that Ron Paul will not bend under any political pressure, money, or threat. Again, how many politicians can say that?

-He does not vote down the party line, he isnt afraid to go against, or even leave, his own party, he is a fierce independent voice, even if you think he's crazy, you have to respect that

-Ultimately, he's just a nice guy. He's only because he cares and he believes in a cause. With all the disgusting things we see in washington today, he is a gaping breath of fresh air.

His departure doesn't matter much either way. He's overrated.

Paul's not perfect, but I always did value his willingness to go against the GOP in times when the party was both popular and detested.  Mainly I'm just glad we had a voice in there for a foreign policy we rarely hear about on the right(or left, really). Hopefully the others that have been elected like him in the congress will continue to offer that viewpoint to the GOP.

And on a side note, I've always thought Ron looked rather huggable. Not really another politician I've thought that about. So he has that going for him.

And then we can be steamrolled by the government like we always wanted.

I disgree with him on a fair amount of things, but he was somebody I admired as a principled person.  I'll listen to the speech hopefully this weekend.

Wish Rand was leaving, not Ron.

Agreed with Ron on social issues, disagreed on economics, and more often than not agreed with him on foreign policy. At least, I agreed with what I heard, and I agree with Jesse Ventura a lot, who often cites Ron Paul on foreign policy. Regardless, Ron deserves respect for his consistency, vigor, and willingness to continually put forth ideas, sound or not, instead of trumpeting outmoded talking points.

Love him or hate him, he was principled. America will never again be blessed with a man as unique as Ron Paul in Congress.

Can I just say how irritating I find the argument, "You might disagree with him, but at least he stands by his principles. You gotta respect him for that."

I'm sorry, but if I find his principles repugnant, but I will not respect him for standing by them.
