I've a;ways wondered this what are the main differences between Thurmond and Wallace?.

Ive always seen Wallace as more populist he was for expanding the new deal and medicare and anti-corporate well Thurmond was more of a statist for a neo-liberal economy and was not populist.

What are the differences between the two in your opinion?.

Wallace was never really racist, he just pretended to be to win votes, he admitted this, became a born again xtian, never left the democrats, appointed 2 black cabinet members, was economically leftist.
Thurmond was more economically rightist (to the degree anyone can be when they believe one human being is intrinsically worth less than others due to their biology), switched parties in 65, and never renounced everything like Wallace did. Als orapedhis black maid and made her pregnant, he has a mixed race daughter which is intriguing, he paid for her college education and his kids by marriage have acknowledged her.

Good post and i agree. I say Wallace represented the Left-Wing of the segregationist movement and Thurmond represneted the right. Economically of course.
