According to Republicans, it doesn't count because Democrats "suppressed" the vote.

The actual results were clearly skewed, and need to be unskewed.

We should hold a convention in the midterm years.

With 2008 level turnout, it would have been even more of a bloodbath.

I don't think either side has a mandate unless they're brought in by huge margins. There's still a very large percentage of Americans that disagree with the President's policies, so I'd be careful about treating this victory as a "mandate", otherwise, prepare for another brutal midterm.

I would also appreciate being pointed to aggregate House numbers.

The midterm is going to be brutal for Dems no matter what happens. Better that Obama makes hay while the sun shines and gives his voters a reason to come out than wait for the bloodbath.

Not necessarily. If Obama comes out in January and shows a real willingness to compromise, even if Republicans don't budge, he'll come out looking at least somewhat bi-partisan, an image many don't think he has now. If he can manage that and lucks out with an improving economy, I don't see why Democrats wouldn't keep the Senate and only have minimal losses in the House, if any at all.
