I know I should be feeling relieved that my guy won and it's finally over.

But I'm not really.

I want another election, please. Already wondering about the 2016 election.

Pathetic really.

Anyone else?

(from Nov. 5th, 2008)

Personally, no withdrawal yet for me. I'm still analyzing all the election returns and such, but once I'm done with that distraction I'll definitely be very curious about 2016, yeah. Hell, primaries are more fun than general elections anyway, and next campaign season we'll get two of them again! Grin

The Chinese pseudo-election is mindnumbingly boring. No polls. No real election. No dirt. We know nothing about the new general secretary.

I suppose next years German election might be interesting.

It was worse after the 2008 election. The Obama-Clinton primary was one for the ages, the best appetizer for political junkies.
And the general with the prospect of electing the first black president, the selection of Palin and the collapse of Lehman Brothers, had the entire world watching with bated breath.

At least then we had the senate races in Minnesota, Alaska and Georgia going to overtime. This year we got nothing.

We have the CIA director resigning, the AG hinting that he won't be around,  possible talking with (and some shots fired from) Iran, Libya investigations.  This is ongoing.  Smiley

Sort of, but not really. I will miss MSNBC's election night theme though, which I do really like. Otherwise, it's good to let the stress off for now. Besides, 2014 will be on the mind before 2016 anyway, Although, none of that has stopped me from absorbing as much as I can from these election results.

This. So much, this.

And, yes, 2014 is next and seems likely to be a much more, um, cheerful season than 2012 was.

I know exactly what you mean. It feels so weird not checking the Atlas for new polls or news. But at lease eve got the gubernatorial Elections next year in New Jersey and Virginia. Virginia should be interesting, as Christie will crush any competition.

Yeah, I can't wait to see how Virginia unfolds next year, and also maybe we'll have some special elections up ahead with some congressional mid session retirements or something.

I kind of am suffering Election withdrawals symptoms, since I don't have to randomly debate other people, talk about polls, campaign gaffes, etc. but it's not as bad as what my Olympic withdrawals were.

I'm glad it's over.

I didn't start following politics until the 2000 election and this 2012 campaign ranks at the bottom as far as interesting.

I'm relieved that it's over now, but I'm still spending time analyzing the county results, swings, trends, etc.

I'm glad the election is over but the election night could
go on for days the time from the first results until Obama's
speech was so fast running. It appears to me that the election
night lasted not for 6 hours but only for some minutes.

I downloaded from youtube a Larry King 6 hours election night coverage
and another one from The Washington Post (8 hours) I watch this
stuff and when I'm through the election is over for me. If Romney
had won the election it would have been over for me with Obama's
concession speech but with this outcome the election ist not over
for me for the next days. I'm still in election mode.

I love this idea Democrats have that Obama will now be able to do whatever he wants because he won in 2012...he has way, way, way less control over Congress than Bush did after 2004, and Bush was unable to pass Social Security reform. Boehner will just calmly refuse (and, on the extreme off chance he didn't, he'd be overthrown by the backbenchers and replaced by someone who would).

Nope, glad it's done.  Not in a hurry for the next ones either.

By the way, I think there is some dirt in the succession of Xi Jinping to premier leadership in China.  The infighting between Hu Jintao and Jiang Zemin about whether Xi or Li Kechiang was going to follow Hu, and the conspicuous disappearance of Xi during the uproar surrounding Bo Xilai and his wife make me wonder what exactly is going on there.  But, you're right, they don't run tracking polls and light up the Empire State Building over it.

Not really, it was worse in 2008.

Anyway, there are several important elections coming up next year, such as the Austrian army draft referendum, state elections in Carinthia, Lower Austria and Tyrol as well as the Austrian parliamentary election.

There's also the German Federal election, as well as state elections in Lower Saxony and Bavaria.

There is the Israel Parliamentary election, Japan and the Italian one.

The Iranian Presidential election is next year too.

Also, Norway parliament, Australia parliament, Chile President and so on ...

Plus NJ and VA governor ...

So, next year won't be boring.
