One of the nice things about living in South Carolina is that we have one of the best political cartoonists in the country.  Robert Ariail, working for The State. Besides coming up with humorous observations, he can actually draw something besides human looking squiggles spouting quips that too often pass for political cartoons these days. Here's a sample from 2002, showing his ability to set a slightly surrealistic scene that sadly will probably be all too appropriate this year as well.
