Yes, I know, attention whoring.  But it's an interesting milestone.  I have voted for Democrats before, but never in a race where they were opposed by a Republican.

Today I will happily cast my ballot for Richard A. Matkin (U.S. Taxpayers) because I refuse to vote for Pete Hoekstra after his xenophobic Superbowl ad.

No.  And that wouldn't emphasize my protest vote.

It's not like Hoekstra was going to win the Senate Race anyway.

It's not like Hoekstra was going to win the Senate Race anyway.

I actually thought about that... even if he would have, I wouldn't have voted for him, unless that meant we would take the 51st seat, but in that case, I wouldn't be voting for Hoekstra--I'd be voting for a GOP Senate majority.  And if that were the scenario I faced, I'd probably vote straight ticket so that I don't actually have to vote for him - a little symoblic move to show I'm voting for the party, not him.

But, our party has decided to throw out the moderates, and without Olympia Snowe or Dick Lugar, we're nowhere close to 51, so I don't have to worry about that.

I voted for Hoekstra because although I thought that ad wasn't very good, I felt that he was still a beter candidate.  There were a few Democrats running unopposed for some local offices where I live, and I voted for them.  The only exception was my county sheriff.  I have an uncle who is a reserve police officer and has heard some not very nice things about our county sheriff, and although he was running as an unopposed Democrat, I voted for my hometown police chief as a write-in.  I voted for the other unopposed Democrats though,  but if there was a Republican running, I voted for that person.

The Republican was too xenophobic, so you voted for the Constitution Party.

Bwa Ha Ha!

Did you take a look at the bile Virgil Goode spewed in his campaign?  He made Williard "Self-deportation" Mitt "Currency-manipulation" Romney look like a liberal on xenoissues in comparison.

The Constitution Party is not a bad party; I prefer it to the Libertarians on some issues, like free trade.

And yet he was their chosen nominee to lead their ticket.  And their platform is definitely xenophibic.

Seriously, Inks, while I can respect the protest vote against Hoekstra, don't minimize who and what you did vote for as an alternative (to Hoekstra and Stebenow).
