Pataki, seeking infusions of cash for the state, wants to sell or lease properties including Thruway, Tappan Zee and 2nd Avenue subway:

It's not a bad idea in my opinion.  The properties in question already charge high tolls, so I would welcome private ownership.

I'm against privization in principle, but I'll need to learn more before I formulate my opinion on this.  Goodness knows the state needs money.  But, as jfern said, it will never pass.

Mayor Daley of Chicago privatized the toll road owned by that city (Chicago Skyway) late last year. The city retained ownership of the road, but contracted the right to collect taxes in exchange for maintaining the Skyway.
