It's cool guys. Rasmussen will be here to save the day soon. He'll show us the holy light and truth and have Roms ahead in all of them.

The German numbers are actually probably too high for Romney.

What is the point of polling these countries? This serves only one purpose, and that is to make Obama look like the more "Internationally accepted" candidate.

I'm not debating the accuracy of these polls, infact, I believe they are accurate. But, I just don't see why anyone would poll another country for an American election.

I wonder what makes Finland 5 points more in favor of Romney then the rest of Scandinavia?

I can't really believe 10% of Finns would vote Romney.

% of those who support Obama out of the total is a much more meaningful number than the two candidate ratio for these international polls

Our poll showed Obama doing better with older people, but mostly because younger people didn't care as much.  Might make sense. I don't know anyone over 30 supporting Romney. People that I know who support Romney are some of my friends who are my age.

Interestingly, my previous girlfriend (who supported the Liberals) supported McCain. But, she didn't like me telling people that. At the time, my gay room mate also supported McCain (he was pretty right wing though), and so did one of my best friends.  I joked that I knew the only three McCain supporters in Canada.

14% of Tories back Romney? I'm ashamed.

I know there were similar figures in 2008 but perhaps less stark. As for 2004;

BUSH 22%
KERRY 56%
DONT KNOW 22%

Kerry leads amongst women (56%), men (56%), Labour voters (61%), Liberal Democratic voters (77%) and suprisongly amongst Conservative voters! (51%)

So we're getting there Cheesy

Looks like Europe would vote like Black people. Tongue

Also, to answer the question why this matters, don't Americans like to say we are the leaders of the free world? So wouldn't the rest of the free world be interested in who we choose to be our leader since it also affects them. In any case, at least Romney has Pakistan's support so hopefully no feelings are hurt.

I realize my anecdote is slightly less impactful, but here in Calgary, seems to be a lot of support for Romney. His talk about approving all parts of Keystone is huge. Even at the university, theres been much positive talk (at least around my friends in the economics and poli sci departments) and lots of posters for Romney/Ryan everywhere, not so much for Obama. So despite the prevailing wisdom, there's a ton of under 30s and Canadians to boot willing to support the R/R ticket

Alberta is hardly typical of Canada, which isn't too surprising.  While Canadian hate to admit it, they really are part of the broader American culture rather than a separate culture, so they're part of the same Mountain West culture as Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming.

Let me rephrase, They of course have a right to be interested in our elections just as we should in theirs, however polling people who can't vote in our election is a waste of time, politically motivated, and a waste of money (for the polling firm).
