Maybe they don't trust their own polls.

The bad news for Romney is that the pollsters that have good methodology (live calls, cell phones included, multi-day samples) all show him down by four percent or so. Only the polls with suspect methodology give him any hope, and those still show the race tied at best.

Obama can be up 10 and CNN would still call it a tie.

BTW, I love the comments.

Nice try CNN but here are results from a real unbias polling organization.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Ohio Voters, shows both President Obama and Mitt Romney attracting 48% of the vote. Two percent (2%) plan to vote for some other candidate, and three percent (3%) are undecided.

BTW, the undecides usually turn toward the challenger, so try and get your facts straight next time, shall we

I think it might make more sense to compare polls from 2008 rather than from eight years ago.

There is a weird reverse parallel with 2004 and OH. After his first debate Kerry rallied and closed the race but was never able to pull ahead in the national poll average, but he was able to pull ahead in an average of the OH polls. He was ahead exactly 8 years ago in late October, then Bush had a late rally and regained the OH lead.

Didn't CNN use Gallup for their polling at that time, not ORC? I agree, Gallup sucks!

4 points is about as big a lead as any Presidential candidate will have in Ohio. Why would you order a poll of state, when you are going to call it tied regardless? Was CNN expecting a candidate to possibly be up by 9?

Yes. And it had the largest sample of the three polls released that day. The other two were both closer to the actual result.

CNN other than FNC and MSNBC wants the election to be close
until the last day. They think if it's close more people watch CNN.

Hey, folks. New here - love the website, the polls, and am tuned into the election from the Pitt area. Can't say this poll surprises me, nor the continued small but significant lead of Obama in OH. Here in western PA and I'd guess OH is not much different I sense a serious "trust deficit" for Romney. People don't trust him; they may not love Obama, but they don't trust or like Romney. And the efforts to curb voter turnout in OH tells me the GOP knows they are losing. We'll see.

What absolutely "heh" news!!!  The force of Obamentum is destroying the attempts of the Romney campaign to carry the state!
