Across the 12 Purple States, President Obama currently leads by 2 points, 47% to 45%.

OH: 46-44 Obama

CO: 47-46 Obama

VA: 47-47

Fielded 10/23-10/25, interviews were conducted using a mixed methodology of automated telephone interviews using landline phones and online interviews of voters who predominantly or exclusively use cell phones. Seventy-five percent (75%) of the interviews were conducted via phone, and 25% online with cell phone users. Total weighted N size=1000 likely voters, margin of error +/-3.1. CO, OH, and VA have been oversampled to N=600 per state, margin of error +/-4.0.

And according to Steve McMahon, Obama might be ahead in all 12 swing states.

Wow,if the husband of Linda McMahon is saying it, it really must be bad news for Romney

What's their track record like? The name seems familiar.

Nah he's a Dem Strategist that appears on Hardball all the time. A pretty straight shooting and reliable analyst, unlike Alex Castellanos who's constantly spinning for the GOP no matter what.

The Purple Poll is conducted by both a Democratic and a Republican pollster, correct?

Yes, it is run by Steve McMahon(Democrat) and Alex Castellanos(Republican).

I think they also has a GOP house effect.......

He's also tended to be very critical of Romney.

This will be the map.  Take it to the bank.  I nailed 2008 and I'll nail 2012.  Purple poll will further confirm that people have finally made up their minds and they are making up their minds for Obama.  Certainly analogous to 2004.  Romney can't convince everyone it's hit the fan when reality says it has not.

Yes, but if I remember correctly it appears to have a Republican house effect.

I guess RCP will find a reason to exclude these.

One site claims it at around R+1:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/simon-jackman/house-effects-by-back-by-_b_2007907.html

It would be good news if Linda dumped Vince for someone else.

I think what he was trying to say is that the poll will show an Obama lead in the aggregate of ALL 12 purple states:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036697/ns/msnbc-hardball_with_chris_matthews#49559369

That doesn't mean that Obama is ahead in ALL individual states they polled. I doubt they even polled ALL 12 states individually. They usually pick out only 4 or so where they did an oversample. But maybe for this poll they polled all of them seperately. We'll see soon.

The last Purple polls were done Sept  15-19 (The week when 47% hit), and they were actually not that great for Obama compared to other polls...OH: Obama +4, CO: Obama +3, VA: Obama +3. So Romney has picked up 1 in CO, 2 in OH, and 3 in VA since what may be Obama's best week. He is going to have to do better than that to break 270.

Good polls for Romney. Undecideds are numerous and they will break 75% for Romney.
Plus the poll shows Mittmentum compared to their last poll.

Mittmentum of 2 points in 5 weeks. So in 6 weeks Mitt will certainly be ahead in OH!  And on that day he can talk to President Kerry about how the undecideds swung the election for him.
