I honestly thought that after the Giffords shooting, and the Aurora theater shooting, that we would have a much larger discussion about gun control. In the last debate when it came up, I was surprised that it did come up, but very disappointed with both of the responses. Obama wandered off into education as a solution, and Romney focused on two parent families (does that include gay parent families?)

What do you believe is (or are) the most under-discussed issues of this election?

Federal spending, just because both candidates seem far more interested in finding ways to increase it than reduce it.

I would've liked to hear the candidates talk a little bit about the challenges in the Third World.

The increasing strategic importance of the Asia Pacific region.

In the past four years, we've seen the death of KJI, the shelling of Yeonpeyongdo, the Chonan sinking, increasing hostility between Japan and China, saber rattling in the South China Sea, and a question of what to do with troops in Okinawa. 60% of the US Navy will soon be based in the Pacific, and China just launched its first air craft carrier.

Yet the only thing we've heard about this very important part of the world is that Romney has an insanely stupid plan to launch a trade war with China, and Obama's concern that China is beating us in green energy investment.

I actually agree with this. Along with civil rights.

The things not mentioned in the debates that probably won't show up in the FP debate:

Same-sex marriage (not really underdiscussed, everyone knows what both candidates think)
Internet rights/censorship (not quite as important as some would have you believe, but a lot of people care about it)

They can't make the whole debate about Iran, Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan (along with China-bashing by both candidates), so they could very well have questions relating to the War on Drugs (probably within the context of Mexico) and civil liberties. Obama probably gets asked about the NDAA as well, and obviously there will also be a question relating to the EU and another about the South China Sea.

Climate change is probably the best answer. Perhaps this will be the last election to ignore the issue.

Climate Change

Mortgage Fraud and the rest of the housing mess

Out-of-Control Megabanks (or perhaps the fact that the Megabanks are firmly in control, which would explain why there's no relevant discussion :-)

Civil Liberties

Drones and Obama's use of them

Foreign Policy discussion that involves actual neurons firing, particularly regarding China (and the Spratly Islands), Afghanistan, Yemen, and Somalia.

This, it kind of encompasses climate change too.

Thank you! In the town hall debate, the following words were not used: NDAA, drone, Constitution, habeas corpus, indefinite detention, trial, PATRIOT Act, torture, liberty, Guantanamo, SOPA, PIPA, Pakistan, Waziristan, extrajudicial, whistleblower, espionage, intelligence, warrant, police, monitor, or NSA.

I've got an interesting (sort of trivia) question for you folks. It should be interesting to see the responses.

What do you think is the biggest sleeper issue for seniors today?

'Sleeper issue' is defined as an issue that is essentially almost never been brought up as a political issue in debates, speeches, platform's, etc.

I was listening to a couple of campaign staffers from Florida and when they gave their answer, everybody went "Ah ha"(as if to say, that makes a lot of sense).
