The winds shifted more than I thought they would.  I stand corrected.  (To be fair, the NWS made the same error that I did.)

No harm in your thought, as the NWS/NOAA is a very reliable source for weather and climate.  It just happened a little differently than even I thought.  I thought we'd stop at 3, maybe 4, inches.  I didn't imagine we'd get nearly a half foot.

Of course, all the weather forecasts are are educated guesses by men and women.  Nobody knows for sure what God (or Mother Nature if you don't believe in God) is going to bring weather wise.  So many forecasts are completely false, by the NWS, TWC, WU, Accu, and local experts, because God had some other idea in mind.

That's not why forecasts fail...

Ultimately, it is.  I believe that God controls every single dimension and aspect of this universe and of this world and He alone controls the weather.  There may be climate change, but ultimately, God is always the One in charge calling the shots, always has been, always will be.

I don't know, to be perfectly honest.  I don't know what His purpose was for Hurricane Sandy, Katrina, or any other natural disaster.  All I know is He is God and I am not.  Sometimes, no, often my definition of good does not match up with His definition of good.  His way is perfect, no matter how devastating the situation seems.

I finally cooked dinner tonight!  I fried up some hamburger patties and had homemade hamburgers.  It may not have been the healthiest, but it sure was better than going out to McDonald's or Burger King.  The dishes have been cleaned up and now I can settle into a Sunday evening!

Why did God send Hurricane Sandy to the East Coast?

God doesn't like librulz, you should know that

If God doesn't like librulz, I'm not in good shape myself.  Why?  I wholeheartedly support Obamacare and I voted for President Obama which are two big no-no's amongst my facebook friends.  Any time I post anything even remotely saying some good thing about my President, I get lit up like a Christmas Tree!

Why am I being attacked for doing something different?  Am I not allowed to even touch a single hamburger ever again?

Yes, it is cooking.  It is getting the skillet out, spraying it with PAM, shaping ground beef into patties and throwing them in the skillet.  It involves standing over the stove until they are done.  So, yes, IT IS COOKING!!!!!!!!  At the very least, its better than blowing money at a fast food joint.

Did you use organic, locally-sourced ground beef?

Yes, it's cooking in its absolute bare form... I guess it's slightly better than "cooking" toast.  But real cooking involves more than shaping something and flipping it over in a pan.

I'll agree its not cooking a huge meal, and whether it is actually healthier or not is immaterial to this one main thing, and this is a biggie in its own right, it SAVES MONEY!! It saves me about on average $7-$9 for a fast food meal that is a lot worse than what I had.  Tomorrow after work, I plan to go to the grocery store and get another pound of ground beef and fix the spaghetti.  I may get two pounds of meat so I can fix tacos either Tuesday or Wednesday night.  If I can spend about $5 for 2 pounds of meat (hypothetically, mind you) that would end up saving me another $10.  Keep doing that and I'll suddenly get more comfortable in my finances!

You saved $7-$9 on a cheeseburger?  Goodness, how much do you spend when you eat fast food.  A half pound of hamburger meat would be what... $2, plus maybe $0.25 for the buns.  So your cost of this meal was roughly $2.25... so you're telling me that you spend $9.25-11.25 when you eat fast food?  That's like 2-3 value meals or 9-11 dollar menu items.

I spend on average about $8-$9 per meal, depending on where I go.  So, take $9 and subtract the $2.25 for the meal and that's $7 give or take.

What did you buy for $9?

Usually going to Wendy's and grabbing a 1/2 pound double cheeseburger with mustard, pickles, and lettuce, medium fries, and a large coke.  Nothing which is good.  McDonald's was actually my cheapest place with my meal usually costing $6.68 with tax plus pounds of grease.

Bushie I hope you're putting some sort of vegetable on these burgers or eating them on the side or something...

No, they were the main course.  I just had a slice of cheese on each one, no lettuce or pickles or any other vegetables.

Since I don't like tomatoes or onions, that leaves just lettuce and pickles as the normal hamburger toppings.

I just read a few pages, and unless I'm missing something I do not understand why so many here consider this enrapturing.  Tongue

Don't you get it?  This is Young and the Restless, General Hospital, Days of Our Lives, the Bold and the Beautiful, As the World Turns, and Guiding Light all mixed together with a little Fear Factor sprinkled in!

You're a "liberal" now Jeff?  I think a more apt description might be "confused."  I would suggest just "growing up," but then I have a Peter Pan syndrome myself, so that would be "projecting," and that would be just so wrong, so I won't!  Smiley

Compared to my facebook friends, I am extremely liberal.  Compared to this forum, I'm a Bible-thumpin' Conservative.  So, our friend and fellow poster politicus, I am a "Bible-thumpin' Liberal".  I sigged it and made it my profile name.

There definitely should still be a Bushie movie some day, but we haven't yet reached the thrilling ending of this story yet.

I predict Scarface-esque ending.

It sure is warm out there today - temperature got up in the 40s today and the snow is mostly gone from Saturday. Not too worry, though, because after two more warm days tomorrow and Thursday, we have chances of snow Thursday night and Friday although most of that moisture will go to Central and Southern Utah, but we could still get a couple inches here in the Northern Valleys. Sunday-Monday we could get another 4-5", then next Wednesday morning another 40% of snow, and again next Thursday and Thursday night, another 1-2" possible. Chances are growing for a White Christmas!

Memphis - I do attend services every Sunday morning that I can.  I go every week unless I'm sick or if I'm snowed in like I was this past Sunday.  I have to save myself for work on Monday.  I've only gone to one non-Sunday activity which was the Christmas Banquet last Thursday.  Some of them may be up for games every now and then, but I don't know about Wahoo.

So what made you gain 8 pounds in a couple weeks?

No, I was at 264-266 a couple weeks ago, so I've only risen 2-4 pounds, I can't remember what I was.

I just reserved my off airport parking for my trip to Oklahoma City next weekend (Dec 21-25).  My flight leaves at 6:00 am MST Saturday, December 21, 2012, but I am going to directly after work Friday evening not for weather concerns, but for the fun of it.  I enjoyed the 15 hour airport marathon in November, so I'm sure I will enjoy this marathon, which will put me at the airport by 5:30 pm Friday and boarding at 5:30 am Saturday, so a grand total of 12 hours in this marathon, not including the time in transit to the airport and not including the time spent on the plane prior to departure.

Christmas Day will be an interesting day for me.  I leave the Oklahoma City Airport at 11:15 am CST, arrive in Denver at roughly 12:45 pm.  Take off from Denver at 2:45, arrive in Phoenix at 4:35 pm, then finally leave for Salt Lake City at 5:45 and arrive in SLC at 7:32 pm!  So, I will have 2 layovers in Denver and Phoenix just trying to get from OKC to SLC.

But you lost 6.  266 - 6 = 260 + 8 = 268.  You gained a net of 2, but you gained 8 from the point that you had lost 6.

I started at 270 or 272.

EDIT:  I started at 270:

Jeff, did you really lose 6 pounds?  Because the last time the forum convinced you to diet, you magically started losing weight really easily, but then we found out that you lied about the weight loss.

Yes, I have lost 6 pounds.  This is no lie.

That's what you told us before...

I've gone from 270-264.  I know what I saw on the scale this morning, and it really doesn't matter if anyone here believes me or not.

I'll probably resurface just a bit by morning, probably back to 4 or 5 pounds because I fell off the wagon today, but I will be hopping back on it tomorrow.

You used to be 265... when did you go up to 270?  (It's sad that I know this).

I ballooned just a bit before I started.

I guess it was probably October or November when I got up to 270.

Why do you reserve airport parking? Can't you just drive into the garage and park? And do you know nobody well enough to get a ride to the airport? No buses running that way? Have you done the math on getting a cab? Parking at airport is expensive :-(

I reserve airport parking so my car can be under security surveillance while I'm gone.  I could just go to the garage and park, that would still have the security, but is more expensive than reserving an off airport parking.  It is $8.25 per day at the off airport parking and around $9-$10 at the airport itself.  Plus, the off airport has a shuttle service from my car door to the front door of the airport and back.

I don't know anybody well enough to take me to the airport and pick me up, especially since they would have to pick me up on Christmas Night.  Public Transportation doesn't run that early on a Saturday nor does it run that late on Christmas Day.  I've checked on the taxi service and it is $85 one way.  I'm only paying half that to stay at the airport parking.
