The same reason The Sims is one of the most popular games of all time, I suspect.

Nah, I love The Sims, but I can't micromanage Bushie's life.  Autonomy is on full Cry

I just read a few pages, and unless I'm missing something I do not understand why so many here consider this enrapturing.  Tongue

This latest novel really isn't that good.  You have to already be a fan of the series to enjoy it.  I strongly suggest you start from the beginning to see its appeal.

This is almost it, except that Bushie frequently does not do as he is told. There is also the odd duality of a strong desire to help and to ridicule all rolled up into one. It's essentially an interactive exploitative reality show. With the right polishing, it could be the next big thing in broadcast entertainment. He could very easily be rich and famous. Except that this would defeat the looking for a job subplot, which is an integral part of the show. I suppose bigger plotholes have been ignored. And Bushie is generally EXTREMELY good natured about the ridicule side except for rare occassions which blow up into serious trouble. We all have our quirks in my life. I prefer to keep mine to myself, as I know I would not handle the criticism as well.
And as others have pointed out, this season has been awful. May be time to call it quits soon. I would hate for the Update to turn into the Simpsons.

There definitely should still be a Bushie movie some day, but we haven't yet reached the thrilling ending of this story yet.

That screenplay I wanted to write would've ended before the Dell job, and completely ignore the Kenya and moving to Utah arcs. That's kind of where it jumped the shark and just became the writers reusing plotlines. Granted it's still amusing to see Bushie get caught in his lies or ignoring obvious advice he needs to follow, that never gets old. I just hope the writers come up with an original curveball of some type.

Don't the days of everybody's life conclude in the same way? Or is it like Titanic or Lincoln where knowing the ending is not so much a spoiler. And I very much enjoyed the Kenya arc. Moving to Utah has been a disaster though. He needs to be among his own kind. I want to hear more about his church in Utah. Church and God have been the key component of this story from the beginning. Now they have been extremely marginalized and the quality is reflective.

I guess Kenya would be a good endpoint.

Whatever it is, I see this story has a great allegory about the perils of trying to pull yourself up by your own bootstrap.  Going back to the musical thread, it has the potential to be the American Les Mis, only with one main character.

I predict Scarface-esque ending.

If Matt Damon gained another 85lbs or so.. the stache is almost creepy enough for the role.

Yeah, proposing to a woman while on a date to IHOP would be more entertaining than this stuff.

Please tell us about church in Utah? Do you attend services or activities? Anybody there catch your eye enough that you might bust out a game of Wahoo?

It sure is warm out there today - temperature got up in the 40s today and the snow is mostly gone from Saturday. Not too worry, though, because after two more warm days tomorrow and Thursday, we have chances of snow Thursday night and Friday although most of that moisture will go to Central and Southern Utah, but we could still get a couple inches here in the Northern Valleys. Sunday-Monday we could get another 4-5", then next Wednesday morning another 40% of snow, and again next Thursday and Thursday night, another 1-2" possible. Chances are growing for a White Christmas!

Memphis - I do attend services every Sunday morning that I can.  I go every week unless I'm sick or if I'm snowed in like I was this past Sunday.  I have to save myself for work on Monday.  I've only gone to one non-Sunday activity which was the Christmas Banquet last Thursday.  Some of them may be up for games every now and then, but I don't know about Wahoo.

No, I've held steady, actually.  I'm at 268 as of this morning, which us only up 1-2 pounds.  I'm still persevering, though.

So what made you gain 8 pounds in a couple weeks?

Did you find any difficulty in finding a church service you liked? I know when my relatives moved out there, they had some problems finding a right place with a good children's program.

No, I was at 264-266 a couple weeks ago, so I've only risen 2-4 pounds, I can't remember what I was.
