It's really shocking to me how Scott Brown won this state, but Mitt can't even come close. Nobody expects Mitt to win the state, but at least he can make it respectable. Hell, even Gore kept his home state close.

It's really shocking to me how Scott Brown won this state, but Mitt can't even come close. Nobody expects Mitt to win the state, but at least he can make it respectable. Hell, even Gore kept his home state close.

Scott Brown is a pretty likeable guy though. As a Democrat, thats why I like Brown; he just strikes me as a regular guy from MA. Romney doesn't have that same vibe.

42% is pretty damn good for an R in Massachusetts

he was the governor here...but it's far from a true "home" state.

Same way Connecticut was Bush's "home"

This, plus even a high-turnout special election has far fewer votes than a presidential election.

No it isn't. It's average, at best. Reagan won it twice. Bush Sr. got about 45% of the vote against Michael Dukakis. Republicans held the governor's mansion from 1991-2007.

Bush actually did quite well there in 2004, though. He increased his 2000 percentage by about 5 points, despite the fact that Kerry was from the region.
