That is pretty desperate. I mean, come on, she was his boss. Why would you be afraid of an employee?

I think it's fairly safe to say Flake has no idea how to run a competitive race after all his years floating around a safe district. Which disappoints me, considering Flake sucks less than the majority of Republicans running this year. Tongue

Well, it's the right way to respond to an attack like that. Carmona and his campaign know their stuff.

Haha, what?!  "Carmona pounded on my door one time!"  Well, with that type of unruly behavior he'd certainly lose my vote.

Why?  It seems pretty likely that he's gonna win.

On what possible grounds could you make that prediction at this point? At most you could say he's a very mild favourite based solely on the partisan lean of the state.

I've only seen one poll that had Carmona leading, and that same poll had Obama leading in Arizona by two points.  There is no way Obama is carrying Arizona.

PPP had a poll showing Carmona up by two points and there has been a clear and consistent trend in this race.  The size of Flake's lead had been slowly but surely shrinking for a while and now the race is a dead heat (even the most recent internal released by the Flake campaign only had him (Flake) up six while the most recent from Carmona's campaign had him (Carmona) up nine).  If the election were today, Flake would probably win by a hair.  However, there is no reason to think that the trend has/will stop and so by election day I suspect Carmona will have a very narrow lead.  I should add as a caveat (I think that is how the word is spelled Tongue ) that I am expecting strong Hispanic turnout, if I am wrong and Hispanics don't show up then obviously all bets are off.  I should also add that Carmona has been (especially in recent weeks) running an excellent campaign and he doesn't seem to be hurt by Obama (or if you prefer, Flake doesn't appear to have been helped by Romney).

Here's a link to it! Notably, Carmona's ahead by two points while Obama's down by nine. Carmona has a wide lead of both moderates and independents (a majority of both, even!). Regarding the Hispanic vote, the demographics of the poll are virtually identical to 2008 exit polls, fwiw.

Carmona insults Candy Crowley's appearance:

Honestly I'm starting to believe he really is a sexist asshole, but he probably won't win anyway.

It's getting more attention than I expected and Carmona has issued an apology.

I think it was more of a Bidenesque "hurr I don't think before I speak" thing than a truly sexist remark.

And if Flake had said it, it would be part of the "War on Women." Can you confirm this? Just want to make sure we have the talking points down.

Well it has to do with policy as well. Saying it AND supporting sexist policies would be indicative of the so-called War on Women.

Carmona does seem pretty bad, though.

And Flake is against abortion, right? So he's supporting those "sexist policies!" Got it now.

It's getting more attention than I expected and Carmona has issued an apology.

The problem for Carmona is that his statement plays into the ad Flake had been running about his supposed issues with women.  And it is never good for a candidate when he or she plays into the perception that their opponent is trying to push.  Right now I don't think this is a big issue but it would not be good if anything else came along to further this storyline.

Particularly for somebody on tv, Candy is notably unattractive. Not sure how merely implying that makes somebody a sexist. And I feel comfortable saying Danny DeVito is no looker either. Oh noez, I'm bisexist!!!111

That doesn't make any sense. Men historically have had the upper hand over women, have treated women as sex objects, have judged professional women solely on their looks, made disparaging comments about said looks, etc. So yes, it IS more offensive for a man to diminish a professional woman based on her looks alone.

What you said like saying something racist about black people and then saying something racist about white people and saying they're equivalent and cancel each other out.
