McCain. He sucked on most issues, but at least he wasn't so bad on campaign finance reform or the existence of climate change. Romney is just an awful chickenhawk.

I feel like McCain ran for president, at least in part, out of a genuine love for the country and a desire to do good for it. Mitt Romney is, of course, running for president to cut his friends' taxes.

I have no idea what the hell you guys see in John McCain.  "Principled"?  All I ever saw was a desperate attentionwhore "maverick" who just said whatever he needed to say to get press time and a courtesy wank from the media.  Think he's principled and actually genuinely disagreed with his party and wasn't doing it for the approval of his peers?  Well then, look at his 2008 run (hell, look at his career post 2004) when he pretty much pulled a Mitt Romney and tell me I'm wrong in analyzing his character.

He was just Mitt Romney with an anger management problem.  However, I will vote McCain just simply on the basis that Mitt Romney is a beyond gawdawful campaigner.

Granted, McCain is badly overrated. Especially if we're discussing 2001-onward period.

Yet, despite his multiple flaws, he actually displayed some integrity of character and views in the past, while Romney is, well, Romney. Therefore, I voted McCain.

Advisors maybe, but comparing Romney's statements to how McCain's been in the Senate I'd award McCain the "more neoconny" award by a narrow margin.

Probably Romney, although I like them both.  We can't go back and change the outcome in 2008, so why does it really matter now?  Although I like McCain and am glad he's still in the Senate, I think he's largely yesterday's man.
