There's a lot of talk recently in the US about photo ID's in elections (in Austria this is business as usual).

So, how does it look like in this Forum ?

What government-issued ID's do you have ?

I have a passport and a driving license.

I carry my license with me everywhere, but I also have a passport back home and I have a university ID card (I guess that counts as government-issued).

Passport and driver's licence.

Opposed to 'citizenship' cards.

Does personal ID mean a state ID issued to those without a driver's license? In IL and most states you can't have both.

I assume that photo IDs include both state and federal IDs. For instance I have an ID from the Dept of Energy and a users card for the Library of Congress. From the state I have a DL and two other state photo IDs from my places of work. If local government IDs count then my park district ID for the fitness center makes 6.

My bad. I was looking at the ones that fit in my wallet, and overlooked my passport for 7 IDs total.

Not in Germany. You're supposed to bring one just in case, but your voter notification thingy is quite sufficient.

As to the poll question, Person (State ID Card), driver's license, expired passport (didn't vote that one).

Passport since 5, driver's license since 16. My University ID doesn't expire until 2015 or something, but I'm not too sure what its uses are post-graduation.

Well, yeah, here it's the same. Even though the law says that you have to bring the voter notification thingy and a valid government ID, it's usually only enforced in cities with more than 5000 or 10000 inhabitants. In smaller towns it's very common that the election commission doesn't ask for an ID because the election commission often knows a lot of people and all of them are registered automatically at the ZMR (centralized person register) anyway.

Passport and one issued by my public high school, which I suppose counts as government-issued. I wonder if the older seniors would be allowed to use it to vote...

State laws differ o/c, but I'm pretty sure you can't use a school ID to vote because it wouldn't have things like your name or address on it.
