For the Aussies on this forum, I have been wondering -now that you have had a few months experience with the Carbon Tax since it came into effect earlier this summer, how is it working out for you at the everyday level?  What's it like living with it?

absolutely zero difference, positive or negative, except one: Tony Abbott talks about it slightly less.

Which means everything is fantastic!

There's something I've always been wondering about Australia. Every time I've seen discussions about Australian politics since the last election, carbon tax was being mentioned. Carbon tax here, carbon tax there...

What's all this fuss about it ? Is it the single issue of modern Australian politics ?

Honestly, there has been no difference, whatsoever, other than that the issue is fading in importance. Which is very, very welcome when all you here is 'stop the boats' and 'the carbon tax is evil'.

Our rate doubled on our recent electricity bill. Went from 0.11-something to 0.22-something. That's from our bill pre-carbon tax to our bill post-carbon tax.

Edit: That's just ours, I can't speak for anyone else, but yeah, ours doubled.

Honestly, given that choice I'd be very glad to hear more about carbon taxes.

It's potency is dying off... people were hyped up by Abbott for the world to end... and a clear majority either don't think it's going to make much difference, or it's going to be a good thing.

I honestly haven't noticed any differences, I haven't gotten a power bill yet, but even then it looks like it'll be much of a muchness from my calculations.

It'll be like the GST, people get annoyed by it, but the logistics of undoing it will be too cumbersome and expensive.

So far nothing has happened, bills are around the same only thing that seems to be going up is the price of petrol.
