After PPP poll having Baldwin up 3 and an internal having her up 5 plus Thompson contradicting his position post primary. Could this be for real?

Thompson has ran some pretty awful campaigns the last years. So it's not surprising to me that even a "Madison Liberal" has overtaken him.

oh my god, this is terrific news. Baldwin would be a fantastic senator and krazen would be so sad.

I suspect that for most of the Democratic posters here, the latter reason is the more important one. Tongue

Winning this would be great on multiple levels:
1. If we win Wisconsin we've likely held the Senate.
2. First Lesbian Senator; a great first for the LBGT crowd.

On your second point, while it's true that she'd be the first lesbian senator, let us also keep in mind that Baldwin is not that attractive so it wouldn't be "hot" per se. Not like if it were a lesbian who looked like Zooey Deschanel. Still, definitey a great first for the LBGT community.

Straight male horndogs do not constitute 'the LGBT crowd'.
