Article.

McIntyre (D)- 49%
Rouzer (R)- 40%

As for the upballot situation, Romney is crushing Obama 61-32. 'Not looking good for Rouzer if he still can't crack 40% with an electorate that is going this heavily for Romney.

Yeah, McIntyre's got this. So much for this being a GOP pickup.

38 points is absurd.

He might be the strongest congressional candidate in the nation.

I agree that the topline is bit favorable to Romney. Assuming a statewide swing against Obama of a few points, Romney should carry the district by about 59-40.

I've said that I think NC Democrats and the IL Republicans would outperform our expectations; that still seems to be the case. Even in the next door 8th, Hudson's internals are showing him, at best, cracking even with Kissell; that district could approach 60% Romney as well this year.

Outside of Johnston county (only 22% of the district, IIRC), Rouzer is pretty much just a 'Generic R.'

Wondering why McIntyre considers himself a Democrat after looking at his votes.

Well, there are a lot of Democrats from McIntyre's wing of the party in eastern NC.

That area votes fairly nicely Dem downballot.

It is nice to note that roughly 180,000 white Democrats have died or vanished from the voter rolls in North Carolina since 2008. They have been compensated for by 60,000 blacks.

NC-07 is a 58-42 McCain and 62-36 Burr district. Romney should be closer to the latter than the former as Romney will certainly be losing ground in the 3 squiggly Rorschach districts.
